The fact that it is hot-launched results in a smaller, lighter and more economical cannister. Thats why the TEL can transport it horizontaly, while in DF-21 C/D, the cannister is so big that it must be transported inclined. Its a theory but its possible.

That TEL is able to carry DF-21 horizontally, but for parades canister is always elevated so people get to see it better.

Lieutenant General
Report on an academician specialized in explosive mechanics retraces the last 8 days of his life at the hospital where he refused to rest and continued to work to capitalize all of its work to his colleagues. He repeated to the hospital staff that his time is running out and he must complete a thing. It seems that his research has focused in recent years on the earthquake shock wave caused by a tactical nuclear warhead.

He died on May 31, 2012, without leaving a word to his family according to the report.

That's an interested and strange incident. Felt sorry for that academia.

No. If you see photo nº 3 of your post, you will notice that the cone of the cannister goes above TEL driver cabin. That doesnt happen with DF-16, in which the cannister never reaches the cabin. Photo nº 4 demostrates this even further, there is a clearly visible elevation in the forward portion of the truck. The cannister is clearly inclined.

There is few differences between this new missile and DF-21.

Warhead section is clearly longer in this new missile, and if that white line marks stage separation then it's clearly shorter than DF-21's second stage. This new missile is also sporting tail fins... something what DF-21 does not have.

Lookwise this new missile is more similar to DF-11 and DF-15.

Are you sure that is DF-21 in this picture? this picture shows DF-21 with a different warhead (and similar to DF-16). Perhabs your picture is an older version of DF-21 (when it was using its older TEL, before the new one)

I don't know if it's true but at the 1:26 mark is suppose to be a DF-41 launch.

Its way too distant to discern anything of the missile. We cant conclude anything from this video.

Yes, that picture is probably from early 90's.

Here is rare video of DF-21 launch, this DF-21 version has more pointy warhead. That new DF-16 is more similar to other hot launch missiles like DF-11 and DF-15.

I found this from other forum, wheelbase is very similar to that new TEL what was spotted months ago. That missile canister must be at least 15m in length if that truck is "WS2900". Size wise I would say that it's carrying three-stage IRBM or something very similar.

Of course it could be Midgetman style SICBM, but this would be odd since Chinese already have DF-31 and DF-41 is supposedly even larger missile. Or perhaps long rumored DF-41 is actually single warhead SICBM like Midgetman?
