Shhhhh! What make you think China only have 200 warheads? .... also what make you think China not have over 1,000 warheads?
I am assuming from western medias![]()

Right-winger Bill Gertz who seemed to have inside Pentagon sources regularly reported on China's hypersonic activities. I still haven't heard anyone else fly an unmanned hypersonic vehicle that maneuvered at hypersonic speeds and then land.
Bill Gertz wrote about this long before the WZ-8 was unveiled. Was it the same aircraft? I don't know. I remember Bill Gertz writing that the Pentagon tracked by satellite something flying over China travelling at hypersonic speeds while maneuvering and then landing. And remember the US cancelled its hypersonic program but then because of developments in China, they reopened the program. While I don't doubt China now probably has hypersonic vehicles than are designed with the purpose of being reusable which involves landing, when has it been disclosed that China has such a vehicle which lands??
I know China is the first nation to publicly reveal a HGV offensive weapon. It's been observed to be conducting HGV flight tests as far back as 2014. China's probably done much more testing well before 2014. It's the first nation to have publicly revealed a first in world dual waverider with Jiageng-1. China's at the forefront of various scramjet and sodramjet propulsion with the longest running times in publicly disclosed achievements and we've had numerous announcements of many "breakthroughs" over the last decade on hypersonic propulsion. All of that but no one has ever even hinted at HGV, powered or otherwise, being a re-usable and landable aircraft. Where is this info coming from unless you mean WZ-8? WZ-8 is unknown if it is hypersonic. I recall the announcers refer to it as a high altitude, high supersonic vehicle?

Thanks for the article. I read somewhere China is concentrating the rapid construction of modern nuclear submarines at a modern facility. The JL -3 submarine launched missile recent test - flight successfully. So the new generation subs will be armed with these long range missiles that cover every corner of the USA and its territories.I guess it is obvious for everyone that China need to increase it sea based nuclear deterrent Here is GT editorial
and start building type 95 and 96 Sub, increase defense budget to 2%
Facing a serious strategic threat from the US, China was urged to increase the number of nuclear weapons, especially its sea-based nuclear deterrent of intercontinental submarine-launched ballistic missiles, to deter potential military action by US warmongers, Chinese military experts said on Friday, after reports that the US' new defense budget will modernize its nuclear arsenal to deter China.
Having a nuclear arsenal appropriate to China's position will help safeguard national security, sovereignty and development interests and establish a more stable and peaceful world order, which will be beneficial for the world, they said.
The US defense budget, set to be sent to Congress on Friday, is expected to include investments in troop readiness, space, and the Pacific Deterrence Initiative aimed at countering China's military existence in the region, and nuclear weapons technology, Reuters reported on Thursday.
However, Chinese military experts believe that US attempts of increasing military deployment in the Indo-Pacific region will not increase returns for the US as most countries in the region will not allow the flames of war initiated by the US to burn themselves.
The US would buy ships and jets and develop and test hypersonic weapons and other "next-generation" weapons systems to build capabilities to counter Russia and China. The total national security budget will be $753 billion, a 1.7 percent increase over the 2021 figure, Reuters said.
China has kept its defense spending at around 1.3 percent of GDP in recent years, which is far below the average global level of 2.6 percent, data shows. The US, by far the world's top military spender, has spent about four times that of China in recent years.
Chinese analysts said China has never taken aim at US military spending, nor does China want to engage in any form of arms race with the US.
But the US has applied greater military pressure on China, sending warships and warplanes at an increasing frequency to the South China Sea and Taiwan Straits.
The US is also preparing what US media called its "biggest navy exercise in a generation with 25,000 personnel across 17 time zones," as it's preparing for a "possible conflict" with China and Russia.
The US attempted to deepen the militarization of space with its new budget plan, including its investment on future weapons. Considering that the US deems China its top imaginary enemy, China needs to increase the quantity and quality of nuclear weapons, especially submarine-launched ballistic missiles, to effectively safeguard its national security, sovereignty and development interests, Song Zhongping, a Chinese military expert and TV commentator, told the Global Times on Friday.(cont)
Can new Type 094A be fitted with new JL-3 SLBM ? I think it can, especially the newest variant
Type 096, still a few years away be operational and China need to have JL-3 operational NOW!
Do we have anything more than rumors about the missile's specs? The guidance will be astroinertial + laser-gyro INS + BeiDou for sure. What about payload and range at max payload? Will it have all stages maneuvering like Yars?Wasn't JL-3 recently tested again? There was a pretty big test launch last year iirc and another in the last few weeks? What are they using to launch those tests? Maybe a Type 094x? JL-3 has been "finalised" a while ago if public disclosure "tests" have been done since last year if not earlier that we haven't been made aware of. US reported on the launch last year iirc. It definitely seems like the missile is far more close to service (if it isn't already) than the 096 sub which is at last two years from completion? Would seem like it would only be sensible to modify or build 094s with the capability to launch JL-3. If older 094s can't be modified to accommodate than there is a slight chance that JL-3 was always planned for the latest 094 serial units.

I don't think PLAN would approve a Type 096 and JL-3 that it is not going to be able to deliver a hefty payload (at least 3 warheads) to the USA.
