They're building a tunnel well on their side. They can do as they please on their side on the border.
Malnutrition was actually getting worse in India in the past 5 years prior to the pandemic.

According to a Lancet study, the increase in Chinese height since 1985 has been the highest in the world.
Height is a critical indicator for nutritional quality and health.
If the Indian height data is true, I'm not sure what to make of it. Indian average height cresting over at sub 2k gdp per capita... must be absolutely no middle class in India.
It's true. There have been too many studies on how malnutrition is getting worse in India.
But it's not unexpected if you have a central government in Delhi which has been consistently and grossly incompetent since its founding, plus a BJP Hindutva ideology which denigrates the half of the population which is comprised of Muslims+Dalits

That not so weird our hunter and gathers forefathers were all bigger and stronger then modern man and had mostly a carnivore diet so plenty of access to protein the building blocks for the human body. When we transitioned toward a more agricultural society we sacrificed strength and height for bigger sustainable population numbers.
Usually better economic conditions mean better access to daily meat supply and calories.

The middle class of India and Middle class of some developing/developed countries are vastly different entities. There exists therefore a lower/middle/upper subclassifications of the middle class. India has mostly lower middle class while China has "Middle" middle class. The consumption of sub-premium brands like BMW/Mercedes between the middle classes of two countries give an idea ( the Indian numbers are ridiculously low). Even though trying to give a positive light on the sales of a German brand in China isn't exactly comfortable for me and is quite silly, it is a nice pointer to many things considering the allure of these ever radiant German brands.
