I'm thinking you would rather your dimensions not be true for the mere purpose of appearing to only be barely able to fit PL-17s and not larger bombish type missiles. Just using my Mark 1 Eyeball I think a 6m long weapons bay precludes 6 PL-17s where a 7m long weapons may allow 6 staggered PL-17s. I would also prefer for the J-36 to be able to launch large antiship and land attack missiles rather than shut up some random salty internet fanbois whose opinions don't really matter. This kind of deep weapons bay also allows at least the theoretical possibility of vertically stacking PL-17s 3 or perhaps even 4 per bay for a total of 8 PL-17s when configured for ultra-long range anti-air missions.Yes, I know, I still advocate that its MTOW is 50-60 tons. But I think this can negate the argument that it is a fighter-bomber, because in terms of the types of missiles it can carry, it is a complete air superiority fighter:/
