Argentina interested, according to Russian media, to expand its fleet of Russian helicopters Mi-171E
(defensa.com) Argentina might be interested in acquiring more Russian-made helicopters Mil Mi-171E as the two acquired in 2011 and are used primarily to support the operations of the Argentine Ministry of Defense in Antarctica. In any case the purchase would depend on the financial conditions that could negotiate with Russia.
They have communicated, according to Russian media, Argentine Defense Minister Agustin Rossi, during the visit he made last January 16 Russian polar ship Vasily Golovnin before he left to start the Antarctic Summer Campaign 2014 2015, in which 1,500 troops of the Argentine Armed Forces participate. The event was attended also by the Minister, the Secretary of Science, Technology and Defence Production, Santiago Rodríguez, the director general of the Defense Logistics Service, Lucia Kersul and Russian ambassador to Argentina, Victor Koronelli. The vessel was stocked in Buenos Aires as pre-departure to supply materials to 13 Argentine Antarctic bases.
