Yes, because they released the photos, the Videos. The analysis. A video doesn’t lie it can only be altered. A photo doesn’t lie it can only be changed.

What we have is a report of a report of a call that is open to interpretation vs Photos and videos.

You disregard them because of your personal political perspective that the US must be up to something. That whether by simply taking advantage of the situation or by instigating the whole affair the Americans must be behind this. So when you find that magic peice that fits that you must push it as contrary to the Americans released information, disproving the Iranians as the guilty party and pushing some “unknown figure” instigating the affair by drone or shelling.

No they released video of what looks to be an Iranian ship retrieving an Undetonated one.
This is what we are talking about a Limpet mine in this case Iranian. There is no striking the ship.
It’s attached to the ship either by swimmers or those on a small boat. It affixed to the hull normally by powerful magnets. Like this.
Once mounted a timer will normally start so as to allow those who planted the charge to get away before it blows.
It’s a favorite of Hollywood movies who often have small high tech mines for secret agents to place.
It’s a shaped charge meant to then slice into the hull of the ship.

In order for us to accept that a video of Iranians retrieving a mine is evidence of their attack on the oil tanker, we have to assume that the tanker was hit by a mine in the first place.

That's circular reasoning.

even then, Not the smoking gun as claimed by US. There are too many interpretation on why someone would retrieve an undetonated mine in such situation among which is to prevent further aggravating a tense situation. Given US propensity to fabricate evidence and narratives, I would be very skeptical.

Again it’s not a mine you strike it’s a mine that is laid on you.

There is no mine field. This is a weapon of sabotage. It is attached to the target.

Given your political leanings you are skeptical you mean.

It’s a huge risk to recover the mine without reason.
The Mine was their as it failed to detonate. At any moment for any reason the failed detonator, could detonate. It’s an explosion waiting to happen. The USN was already making plans to tow her into port where EOD would have disarmed, removed and dissected the bomb for forensics. So why send a bunch of IRGC to pull it off the hull?

The reason this is pretty damning though is that the Mine once defused is evidence undeniable evidence as it’s manufacturer would have left a signature in markings, materials and parts. Had the mine entered a US Naval facility you would have all that on display.
If this is an Iranian Limpet it would have Iranian proof marks, makers marks Persian warning markings, more forensics that would point to the maker.

Again, you are assuming that the ship was damaged by a mine.

Again you are assuming that it wasn’t. The angles don’t work for a shell and RPG is to small.
To high above the waterline for a torpedo or submarine mine.
The photos of the holes and of the removal of an object from the hull favor Limpet. In fact if you bother to look at photos of the hull and watch the video you should not that the holes are conveniently placed for those planting it from a small boat.
