Another Latin American nation could join and replace Argentina

Bolivia has something that no other country does: the world’s largest salt flat, Salar de Uyuni, which is home to the world’s largest known deposits of lithium.
Bolivia last year sealed significant lithium deals involving two Chinese companies, the giant battery maker CATL and Citic Guoan Group, and one Russian firm, Rosatom, and a combined $2.8bn in investment commitments. Until now, La Paz has struggled to increase industrial production or develop commercially feasible reserves.

It seems to me Saudi has made its choice and China would be better focusing its efforts in the Middle East elsewhere:

China's relationship with SA is multi-faceted. At some areas, they will work together, at others, they won't. China doesn't require Saudi Arabia to become it's satrapy

If Saudi Arabia wants to cooperate with the US on semiconductors and AI, that's ok. Now if you ask if thats the optimum decision for their national interests, that's another question.

In any case, the march on dethroning the hegemon from its throne is a long one. China is satisfied with small steps every now and then until it gradually reaches its end goal.

The Saudi state isn't going to risk losing their hundreds of billions or trillions of dollars.

Making a short divestment from Chinese products/market until China can export those high tech products is less of an Issue/risk than the US and Europe going that bank account is mine now. Im sure China understands given its own exposure to US financial system.

Saudis have unlimited cash and they will pick the country that offer them the best tech. For semi/GenAI, US is ahead right now. But for all the energy related stuff and hard manufacturing, China is way ahead.

Game Changer - China's Nine-Point Plan to Dominate the World Stage

If one had to describe the Chinese spirit in their ascent to global power with just one word, it would be this: serenity. If a second word were available, it would be: strategic serenity.

The stoic calm with which China's leadership proceeds is not a whim of the moment, nor is it due to the president's character. Instead, it is rooted in planning that literally reaches for the stars. The country aims to replace America as the world’s fixed star.

How China wants to become the world's fixed star

The nine-point plan of this breathtaking ascent is as follows:

1. Global peace is to be achieved only with, and no longer against China. To achieve this, the country heavily arming itself with both conventional and nuclear weapons.

2. China aims to be the guarantor for global growth and is therefore striving for technological leadership. Memory chips and data management are especially important.
3. The foundation of China’s ambitions for global power is uncompromising domination of the domestic market – especially in the automotive industry.

4. China's export machinery is the sharpest weapon in the battle for world dominance. In these early hours, it's about dependencies and market shares, even without profits if necessary.

5. China has no intention of leaving Europe to the Americans. Hence the New Silk Road project and the president's five-day European tour.

6. China has discovered a gap in the market of international politics and is trying to fill it. Unlike the West, Beijing has a functioning Africa strategy.

7. China wants to shape the culture of other peoples, their desires, and moods, in an expanded concept of world power. Yesterday's appearance by TikTok's CEO Shou Zi Chew at the New York Met Gala amidst a ban initiated by the US government was a scoop.

8. Financial sovereignty is a prerequisite for sustainable global power status. That’s why China maintains a large financial cushion that is out of reach of American access.

9. Executing this ascent strategy requires unity within. Democracy is considered a disturbance. Investments in the security apparatus aim to secure China's rise.

In Shanghai alone (around 29 million inhabitants), there were about 12.8 million public surveillance cameras in 2023. That's one camera for roughly every two inhabitants.

We are witnesses of a Chinese overtaking maneuver

Conclusion : The attempted overtaking maneuver by the major Asian power is a historical event, of which we are witnesses. One can admire or fear this rise of the Chinese. One thing it should not be is ignored.

Niger's uranium natural fortunes flowed from France (from the same mines that Niger previously banned selling resources to France) into Iran in the end it seems (which will pay for it an equal amount of military equipment worth probably and won't extort it by installing in some puppet regimes and won't have its neo-colonialists corporations go in and be above the law). It is also interesting how Niger ordered the throwing out of the US military personnel right as this agreement got finalized. So we could say that the US is so weak right now globally that even some regional powers like Iran can out-influence and out-muscle them in the third countries, not to mention Russia. A truly fresh kind of world-order.

Iranian hardliners are continuing to discuss Iran’s ability to procure a nuclear weapon. A hardline Iranian member of parliament speculated that Iran had developed nuclear weapons in an interview on May 10.[9] Newly-elected Ahmad Bakhshayesh Ardestani told the moderate-aligned Rouydad 24 outlet that Iran had obtained nuclear weapons but had not and would not announce that it had nuclear weapons. Ardestani’s comments were speculative in nature, and he is likely unable to such information in his current role. Ardestani’s comments follow Strategic Foreign Relations Council Chairman Kamal Kharrazi‘s comment in an al Jazeera interview on May 9 that Iran will have “no choice” but to change its nuclear doctrine if Israel threatens Iran’s existence.[10] These statements align with International Atomic Energy Agency Chief Rafael Grossi’s May 8 comments that the agency was working ”very hard with [Iran] to prevent [nuclear weaponization] from happening,” suggesting that Iran has already obtained or is close to obtaining the ability to procure nuclear weapons.[11]

These discussions coincide with an April 2024 report that claimed that Iran is attempting to obtain 300 tons of uranium yellowcake from Niger.[12] A French investigative outlet reported on April 30 that Iran and Niger have been negotiating a deal since late 2023 for Iran to provide military drones and surface-to-air missiles in exchange for 300 tons of uranium yellowcake. This quantity is significant given that Iran announced in 2019 that it intended to produce 300 tons of yellowcake per year by 2024. A Nigerien delegation notably traveled to Tehran in January 2024 and signed unspecified agreements with Iranian officials, including Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Minister Brig. Gen. Mohammad Reza Gharaei Ashtiani. Ashtiani is responsible for managing the Iranian defense industry, including arms procurement and sales. Niger ended its counterterrorism partnership with the United States in March 2024 after US officials accused Niger of secretly exploring a deal to allow Iran access to Nigerien uranium reserves. Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian met with the new Iranian ambassador to Niger on the same day that Niger suspended its counterterrorism cooperation with the United States.
