The Brazilian Air Force will receive in the coming months the first modernized P-95
(Defensa.com) Eight P-95 Bandeirante aircraft Patrulha (Bandeirulha) of the Brazilian Air Force will have its operational capacities expanded after the modernization process currently being carried out under the supervision of AEL Sistemas as the main contractor, Aeronautical Material Park of Afonsos (PAMA-AF). According to the FAB, the program focuses on the replacement of electronic equipment and the installation of new radar.
48 kilos of weight, the new Seaspray 5000E radar jointly supplied by Selex ES and the Brazilian Atmos, can detect large vessels up to 370 kilometers away. After modernization, the P-95 will also follow up to 200 targets simultaneously and perform ground mapping radar to detect aircraft. Modernizing navigation systems contemplates the use the use of satellite data, providing accurate and essential for aircraft flying over the sea without visual references.
The aircraft will be operated by squadrons Phoenix (2nd. / 7 ° GAV) and Neptune (3a. / 7 ° GAV), headquartered in Florianopolis and Belem, respectively. Along with the P-3M 1 / 7ºGAv in Salvador (Squadron Orungan), the P-95 will provide aerial surveillance Liability IN much of the territorial sea of Brazil. The first P-95M, designation that will have after modernization aircraft flew on 18 December 2013. The prototype is currently conducting test flights involving soldiers of the Phoenix squad and the Institute for Research and Testing in Flight (IPEV). The test campaign aims to analyze the performance of all aircraft systems. Other devices are already on the PAMA-AF for the implementation of systems.
The modernization project, which also includes 42 aircraft C-95 Bandeirante, involving electronic and structural revitalization of aircraft received in the 70's, this last stage with the help of Akaer. As communications unit, the FAB selected ORBITS with its integrated digital management system (ADAMS - Airborne Digital Management Systems) according to their performance and their cost effectiveness. ADAMS is a secure communication system high performance, designed to meet the complex needs of aircraft with crew and large commercial aircraft, transport aircraft and tanks mission applications. This modular COTS system supports up to 20 users at full capacity, only 8 users for intercom receivers 16 and 31 radios, 6 outputs sound, and various discrete lines internal intercom networks.
With regard to the innovations introduced by AEL on the aircraft, are:
• Full Glass Cockpit;
• Reducing the workload of the pilot;
• Integrated Information of all sensors and aircraft systems;
• Digital Map;
• Automatic calculation of fuel;
• List of electronic checks;
• Documentation and manuals in electronic format
