Brazil expands its Integration Laboratory Tests satellite and 50% for checking up to six tons devices

1LYFjXW.jpg

(Defensa.com) The Test and Integration Laboratory (LIT) of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), founded in 1987 and located in Sao Jose dos Campos, will undergo a remarkable expansion of its facilities. The existing plant 22,000 square meters other areas 14,000 meters destined mainly to the development of future satellites Geostationary Satellite program Defence and Communication (SGDC) will be added.

The expansion of LIT / INPE allow integration testing and satellites with up to six tons and seven meters high (typical of telecommunications satellites, geostationary meteorological satellites radar, etc.). Currently, the laboratory's ability to satellites of up to two tons and four meters high is limited (for example, CBERS series, developed by Brazil and China). Once the expansion is completed LIT you can integrate up to four satellites and test different classes simultaneously. An initially estimated at 16 million dollars, a sum phase includes hiring specialized consultants to define the future shape and test equipment to be deployed, the recruitment of civil executive project and the expansion of the functions and of the hiring of building their new facilities, including facilities in basic infrastructure (electricity, hydraulics, air conditioning, etc.).

In 2014, the bidding process for the procurement of the company responsible for the architectural, civil and expanding facilities design was performed. The details of the ongoing project include preliminary stages, conceptual, basic and executive design. Once this step is completed, you can start the hiring process execution of the works itself. In addition to allowing the integration and testing of the satellite program SGDC and other large satellites, the new areas, together with the existing facilities, will allow the improvement with regard to the technological demands of the telecommunications (testing and rating of large antennas) and other (electronics, automotive, computer, hospital, etc.) industries.

Future advances in passive sonar for submarines of the Brazilian Navy

OmpBgRr.jpg

(Defensa.com) After Detection System Development, Monitoring and Contacts Classification (SDAC), which performs the processing of digitized signals from passive sonar CSU-83, already in operation aboard all Navy submarines Brazil, the Army Research Institute (IPqM) is progressing on the development of the "wet end" system, consisting of the acquisition of analog signals originating from the staves (vertical column of three hydrophones), signal conditioning , digitization, pre-processing, training and formatting steering axles for compatibility with the SDAC.

The IPqM is conducting some experiments in marine environment with a cylindrical array of hydrophones (CHA) mounted by the Institute and consists of 32 rods, about 1 meter in diameter. The experiment consists of a firm to develop a passive desonar fully national system with specific features developed to meet the demands of the Submarine Force step.

Brazil and the United States organized nano- operational tests in the Amazon area

6Pedwj2.jpg

(Defensa.com) The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Southern Command of the United States Department of Defense developed a workshop on operational assessment Snap 3 (Nano Program satellites). The constellation consists of three low-orbit satellites nano designed to provide communications link in military operations and civil actions such as search and rescue in cases of natural disasters.

The American project tries to prove, along with Brazil, whether in the Amazon provides communications equipment (audio and text) in hard to reach places. The tropical climate, with rivers and dense jungle, is an excellent framework to test the functionality of the program. The large trees in the area form a natural barrier and filtered radiation from the satellite, hindering the propagation of electromagnetic waves. "We do not have this type of land in the United States, try these systems in this environment it is very advantageous for us.". Performance tests of the nano small constellation of satellites to be launched into space in September, from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, will start three months later, when the team already in orbit.

To the commander of the Space Operations Center of Principal (NUCOPE-P), Colonel Hélcio Vieira Junior, the interest of the FAB it is related to the potential use of this type of satellite communications for search and rescue missions (SAR). "In the crash of the Boeing 777 Air France -in 2009- over the ocean, the command and control of operations was very difficult. Sometimes, aircraft (Amazonas SC-295 and C-130 Hercules) took off to perform a search and we had to wait for others to establish communication with the aircraft was in the search area. If we had some communication satellite could have changed the search area and update flight missions "he explains. Besides Brazil, the Americans are going to test their satellites with Colombia and Peru.

The H175 awakens great expectations on tour in Brazil

NLHmA7O.jpg

(Defensa.com) The H175 helicopter arrived at the port of Paranagua from the Gulf of Mexico - Campeche (attended by representatives of 10 international companies in the sector and with officials of Petroleos Mexicanos / Pemex, after another demonstration in the capital). Louisiana and Texas, where he was developing demonstration flights and could install a second simulator, developed by Indra, the Spanish also GRABYSUR as a subcontractor. The H175 will be demonstrating in the state of Rio de Janeiro from May 28 to June 4.

The most recent of helicopters within the product lines of Airbus model helicopters arrived in Brazil for a presentation in the offshore market sector for which the machine has been specially developed beyond SAR, VIP Medevac or tasks. The tour will take place in three different locations, Cabo Frio, Macaé and Rio de Janeiro and will include a two-day symposium for companies in the oil and gas sector. Operators and customers participate in presentations and workshops related to the helicopter missions at sea, with topics ranging from the support and safety to the training of crews. In addition to possible aeromedical companies might also be interested in the device, it is known that there are expectations in the region for the SAR aircraft characteristics.

For search and rescue operations, their autonomy (6 hours), fast cruising speed (160 knots), long range, and a large walk are key success factors in the misión.Para SAR tasks, the helicopter can be configured with the console, the SAR operator, mounted medical unit, an external winch, and observation windows of big bubbles to help the process of sighting, with a search radar and other weather. A side-mounted reflector, with lights located under the fuselage, offer a wide illuminated area, complementing the main lighting and tail rotor, to maneuver around obstacles. Belonging to the class of rotary wing aircraft capable of taking off with a maximum weight of 7.5 tonnes, the new helicopter with a capacity for 18 passengers has one of the largest internal dimensions of its category.

H175 arrival comes two months after the start of H145 shows another tour of Brazil, culminating in LAAD and continued on the mainland, in Peru and Bolivia. The H145 was demonstrated for potential civilian customers, public and military security. In the latter case, it was presented in flight to the Brazilian Navy, which is planning to select a new model of small light helicopter, supplanting Aeschylus.

For the H175 also it draws attention to the proposal for future naval or SAR versions in many naval forces of the region, because it has many features hitherto difficult to find in weight units, except for the Current AW-139 / series 149/189, with which rival the expected success, while the Bell 525 still gives its initial steps. Its strength has already been proven in the North Sea, which has withstood winds near 56 knots without problems, being able, in an emergency, to ensure their buoyancy in the difficult conditions of Mar 6. This model was presented to the public in Heli-Expo in Houston, United States, February 24, 2008, and shortly after the Zhuhai Air Show, made its first flight on December 4, 2009.

Helicopters Airbus is responsible for the main gearbox of H175 (fully developed using CATIA V5 programs), the tail rotor, avionics, 4-axis autopilot and automatic recovery in case of pilot disorientation, - hydraulic systems and electrical doors and transparencies. It also acts as technical systems integrator. The Chinese partners are responsible, in turn, the structure of the aircraft, the intermediate gear boxes, the main rotor, fuel system, flight controls and landing gear. The H175 is powered by two 1,775 shp turbine. (With FADEC) Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6C-67E, with 5,000 hours of time between overhauls (TBO) and maintenance on condition. Uses a five-blade main rotor Spheriflex and three tail rotor blades. As head gear boxes incorporates two auxiliary changes. detachable, avoiding the cost and weight of additional auxiliary power unit (APU). Two nickel, rechargeable, ultra-low maintenance (ULM®) Saft were installed to provide backup power for emergency systems.

The H175 is provided with an interior of 16 seats for transport to areas of exploration for oil and gas, with easy access via wide sliding doors and large windows. It has a flat floor and usually omits any division between the cockpit crew and cabin. Also, it has optional auxiliary fuel tanks under the floor of the cabina.La VIP version is available in three different styles, with a capacity for six to eight seats, it includes a cabin configuration with two seating areas, electrochromatic windows, an entertainment system on board and video links, in addition to wireless connections via satellite links. Soon, the maximum takeoff weight of H-175 will be increased to 7,800 kg, giving an extra load of 300 kilograms or an additional range of 40 nautical miles.

With regard to presentation cabin, the H-175 concentrated in the four multifunction 6X8 inch LCD screens and a screen optional central mission, also using Helionix avionics. In addition, guided navigation software Rig 'N Fly GPS will join its avionics system for safer and easier approaches and takeoffs a heliport located on platforms or navíos.Para navigation and safe approach, the helicopter comes with TCAS II.

His greatest current orders come from his client OVC-release-Dutch with 16 points, and the versatile Russian company UTair, who works in both commercial and industrial enterprises as in peacekeeping missions of the UN. In Mexico, Transportes Aereos Pegaso, will be its first Caribbean customer, ordered two copies so far, and in the United States, Bristow, who has given 12 units, having advised on its design. In Brazil a similar success awaits.

Oh...okay, I thought you had written FTC-1000.

I know the FZTC-2000 was to be an export version of the JL-9.

But I did not think they ever built any did they? It was just offerings on paper wasn't it?

Did they ever actually build a prototype?

They did, but without the wing tip AAM, the extra fuselage hardpoints or the “nicer avionics. It has the modified wing.
