I have been to Naples. But only on the NATO base when I was flying to catch up with the JFK.

The JFK did visit Naples twice while I was aboard. However no liberty was granted. In '72 we were there for about 12 hours to pick up Midshipmen. In '73 we went there for three days just to anchor with no liberty. We could not go on liberty because of a cholera outbreak in Naples.

I asked about Naples because I thought it was the main port for

Oh yes US Navy ships visit there..no doubt. Nimitz was there during here last deployment. She transited the Suez to operate in the MED for a short time.

I posted this on the US Navy pictures thread as well.

This is what I really wish the US Navy would develop to replace the S-3A ASW capabilities that the Carrier groups used to have. An SV-22 would carry more sensors, more weapons, would have greater range, and could loiter and prosecute targets for a longer time than the Seahawk helicopters.

It would allow the CSG once again to cast a much wide net in the hopes of keeping adversary submarines further away from the carrier.

Anyhow, I built this specifically to be able to show what it would be capable of.

Here's the BUILD THREAD ON SD.

...and here are some of the pictures of the completed aircraft:

I'd love to see each US nuclear carrier deploy with a squadron of six of these aircraft.

Sections of 2nd 72,000 tons aircraft carrier "HMS Prince of Wales" are arriving from around the UK. Here's a peek at what's to come from Portsmouth.

One important thing, EA-6B performed their last deployment on the CVN Bush actually, VAQ-134 i think.

Now Fighters and Electronic attack aircrafts :

Number of F-18E/F and EA-18G becomes very important :

Atlantic :
Oceana : 17 sqns : 5 C, 6 E, 5 F and a OCU B/C/E/F.

Pacific :
Lemoore : 16 sqns : 3 C, 8 E, 4 F and a OCU B/C/E/F.
Atsugi : 4 sqns : 3 E, 1 F in more 1 EA-18G.

Whidbey Islands : 14 EW sqns : 8 EA-18G, 5 EA-6B, and a OCU EA-18G/ with EA-6B up to the end of the year.

Last EA-6B Sqn VAQ-134 replace by EA-18G in 2016.
In these sqns 3 are Expeditionnary USN/USAF created following the withdrawal of EF-111 which instead are designed to operate from land bases.

Last new F-18E/F delivered to Lemoore, normaly first F-35C are for replace last Oceana F-18C sqns.

Number by Sqn :
F-18E/F : 12, F-18C : 10 in general, OCU F-18 : 50+, EA-18G : 5, OCU EA-18G : 12. Futur F-35C : 10.

Naval Today said:
The future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) departed Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aug. 9 after a four-day port visit.

This was the crew’s third stop on the ship’s maiden transit, “America Visits the Americas” as the ship continues to make its way from Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Miss. to its homeport of San Diego. The crew first visited Cartagena, Colombia and then Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

While in Brazil, the ship hosted a reception in the ship’s hangar bay for more than 450 guests. The distinguished guests included The Honorable Liliana Alayde, U.S. Ambassador to Brazil, as well as senior Brazilian, U.S. government and military officials.

During the visit, the ship’s military and civilian crew had the opportunity to experience their host nation and to serve as goodwill ambassadors.

While moored at the Port of Rio de Janeiro, the crew participated in several community relations (COMREL) projects with local Brazilian military members.

America is also scheduled to visit Chile and Peru where the crew will continue enriching partnerships through a variety of interactions with the host nations.

America is currently traveling through the U.S. Southern Command and U.S. 4th Fleet area of responsibility on her maiden transit, “America Visits the Americas”. America is the first ship of its class, replacing the Tarawa-class of amphibious assault ships. As the next generation “big-deck” amphibious assault ship, America is optimized for aviation, capable of supporting current and future aircraft such as the tilt-rotor MV-22 Osprey and F-35B Joint Strike Fighter. The ship is scheduled to be ceremoniously commissioned Oct. 11 in San Francisco.

Ok Astute hear me out. Pres. Obama has nothing to do with RIMPAC 2014. Other than knowing that it is scheduled. No message was sent to the Russians. In fact in year past the Russians have participated in RIMPAC. And yes I know you did not title that video..some military no nothing did.

And that second picture is at Naval Station Norfolk..was taken in December 2012 has nothing to do with the Russians.
