They will tow that thing out into the ocean and then swarm it with what they have in a manor akin to a pack of Hyena scavenging a corpse

Now.. are they going to tow it? Or is it remote control? I see no propulsion. And I guess the island is not finished yet. And what is it constructed of??? Wood? Steel? Just what?
Well, they are getting close to being done with their plywood, scrap metal, painted-up target.

I tell you, they are going to make a big deal out of sinking this "US carrier" with their other toys. Area Denial missiles, swarming speed bpoats with small ASMs, and their "real" corvette sized destroyers. They may even get one or two of their kilos in the act.

They will do a SINKEX with it, and then publish the pics to their own population and make it available for other radical islamists who will believe it actually means something and do the rah-rah thing.

It would be a true tragedy if while they were doing that exercise, a few US warships and aircraft also mistook if for the real thing any joined in with a little live fire of their own, defending the carrier.

But not really...no need to waste perfectly good ammunition.

Back to the real thing.

From a nation that actually has the budget, the technology, and the will to develop and build the reall thing. These are pictures from a new Chinese made PR film about the Liaoning. There are some extrordinarily good images in the video.

It is clearly a PR video. I probably, as an American, would have left out the guy singing the slow, kind of formal song in that fashion and backed it with some blood pumping, patriotic rock and roll...but that's the culture I suppose.

But, as I say, the images are very good. They did pretty darn good with what they have to date.

To whit:

I danced a little when I read that article. Jeff is so correct. The law of the land will stand. I'm guessing CVN-73 RCOH will be pushed back at least one year or more. We shall see.

IF CVN-73 was decommissioned that would mean the loss of thousands of jobs at Hunington Ingalls in Newport News VA. Virginias members of congress would not allow that to happen without a big fight.

Wow I did not know Iran had so many F14 Tommy cats for the carrier shows without doubt that Iran can sucessfully sink a Nimitz Class carrier at will and it's carrier strike package wink wink

Imagine a Iranian F14 Tomcat tried to land on that carrier lol

What would be insteresting if the USN had a couple of Arliegh Burkes near enough the SINKEX to emitt ECM. I'd like to find out how goofed up the Iranians gear would get.
