my version of nationalism would still cheer for Chen over a Japanese. My grandfather grow up in Jap occupied northern China where there were brutal killings of Chinese civilians in search for the great CCP eighth route army.Ok man USA just won another silver medal instead of gold.
Keep it coming.
Hope Yuzuru Hanyu denies Nathan Chen his gold medal.
It feels good to laugh at that idiot. But we need to remember there are a school of US geopolitical strategists called realist that want to the US to make up with Russia to counter China. Guess who they tend to be? Republicans. There are also many white supremacists that want to align with white Russians to counter the yellow Chinese. Guess who they tend to be? Republicans. It's pretty funny to me how he licks Russia's boot but hates China. Hey, Tucker, how about giving Russia's closest ally a nice tongue shine?
Read the comments in the article - never have I seen butthurt so pureRight now on MAGA hat's favorite "news" source front, bold, and center...
All the talk about is the "defector" who fell, making no mention of the other "defector" who got gold for China...
Plus if you read the comments, half of American population all sound like they are already ready for the US gov to do a nuclear first strike decapitation of China and the "final solution" for all Chinese everywhere...
Half of America voted for Trump... and Breitbart news is their safe haven founded by Trump's campaign chief the Steven Bannon...
The US government doesnt need consent for war, but the pulse of the American people is that they are thirsty for blood
I had to look it up too. felt sad it happened.Shiffrin, who was expected at least 2 or 3 golds crashed out of 2 straight events. Still has a chance in combined slalom, her strongest event though.
I agree. I think she dun deserve the negativity. I dun know when the skating roster was annouced, whether there was uproar. I dun follow figure skating at all. I did follow some gymnastics, volleyball and table tennis news during the lead up to the Tokyo games and there was unhappiness at the team announcements.
Which was further blown up when the athletes didn't do well as it reinforced the theory they have, that there was nepotism and internal politics involved so the less worthy athlete was selected. Maybe they think Zhu should have not accepted the spot. Maybe her falls and last place finishes confirm their theory of nepotism. Either way it blew up. And she unfortunately was a scapegoat like others before her.
I'm gonna stop here. I feel like I'm defending the bullies when I was, in fact arguing with them couple days ago. I just want to paint a more nuanced picture than what the western media is putting out there. Hopefully it's in the past now. And she can put it behind her.
This whole Zhu Yi verbal abuse issue has been blown out of proportion by the Western Media, and especially the anti-China faction of SCMP. Off course they are idiot haters in China, a country of 1.4 billion. The Chinese government is censoring the abusive messages, as any responsible govt should do. Eileen Gu was right in saying that 90% of the comments for Zhu Yi were positive, and I believe her. The SCMP was also nitpicking about some odd negative comments from Weibo about her. I believe that most Chinese will be more forgiving to Zhu Yi, even if she is eventually not successful in the competition.Bro I never thought you were defending the bullies. and I think my 'concentration camp' talk was too emotional. I will go to a few site and write some supporting message.
Gu said this and she is right. the best thing to do might just be to grow that 90% voice.
Interesting that Yuzuru Hany got almost the same level of fawning coverage in China as Eileen Gu, whereas Nathan Chen is pretty much invisible.my version of nationalism would still cheer for Chen over a Japanese. My grandfather grow up in Jap occupied northern China where there were brutal killings of Chinese civilians in search for the great CCP eighth route army.
Because Hanyu is a class act and gentlemanly. He said hi to his Korean opponent in Korean.Interesting that Yuzuru Hany got almost the same level of fawning coverage in China as Eileen Gu, whereas Nathan Chen is pretty much invisible.
