Wat kind of jumping technique do they use that is different? As a layman to figure skating I can't tell the difference.

But from the body shape, the bronze winner from japan seem to have more powerful legs, abit chunky even. The Russian skaters are more lithe, legs are skinny in comparison. But they do more difficult jumps? It seems like they are in their own league.
They pre-rotate their jumps, it is only possible when you are not fully developed and flexible, it puts immense stress on the back. This is the reason why almost all ex-Eteri athletes have tons of back problems. They are also infamous for their extreme diet regimes - e.g. Julia Lipnitskaya did not eat anything except for cellulose fodder for days. You might remember Julia from Sochi, she also ended her career rather quickly and had to undergo lengthy therapy because she was diagnosed with anorexia.

They are in their own league in terms of jumps due to that technique but after they mature, they quickly fall from grace because their basics are not that great. It works because jumps > everything else under current rules. If they go through with raising the age limits, then the Russian figure skating scene will crumble because due to Eteri's success other coaches were practically sidelined.

I wonder if that's the reason the Valieva doping scandal emerged along with all the attacks on russians using underaged girls blah blah. Could be the US making moves behind the scene

Dude, she definitely doped. There was an incident when one of the younger Eteri proteges - Anastasia Shabotova (she was 12 or 13) - did an Instagram live which basically went as follows:
- Person 1 Q: How to get stable performance?
- Shabotova (A): You drink doping, that's how. You need to drink the right doping though.
- Person 2 Q: I wonder if athletes in "Khrustalny" drink it?
- A: Of course.

(the news piece itself is about Shabotova's opinion on Valieva but the story is also present somewhere in the middle).

She was obviously kicked later.

Sure, but the manner in which it emerged is kinda suspicious. Right in the middle of the olympics (unusually long for a drug test). It feels like it was orchestrated to embarrass russia

There is totally nothing wrong for China to showcase their own Korean minorities. South Koreans should be grateful that China respects and celebrates their own Chinese Korean culture. But if the opposite was true, these same idiots would be bashing China for cultural genocide.

There was already a sizable Korean diaspora in China long before the establishment of the Republic Of Korea. How are the Korean Chinese less 'Korean' than South Koreans? This is HK democrazy level of bigotry and racism. And the racists in the West are happily exploiting this.
South Korea are the real Koreans because they are Freedom Koreans. North Korean Koreans have 'lost their culture'. Korean Chinese are Oppressed Koreans hence not real Koreans.

Anyone caught this video from Su Yiming's Japanese coach? Apparently he has 3 students? Su, a Chinese girl called Rong Ge and a Japanese girl Reira Ibawuchi. All 3 made it to the Olympics finals.

In the girls big air final, Reira came in 4th and Rong in 5th. Rong is only 19 she could be a big medal hope in the next Olympics. Not sure why there isn't more publicity on her? I seen comments saying they dun know about her much and haven't even seen her face on TV at all. All I can gather is she seem to be born in china but grew up in Canada? In the video Sato was seen asking her to introduce herself in French. And her English name is Sophie. Her voice and face is kinda obscured though with all the winter covering. Quite a mystery girl.

Anyway the I watched the rerun of the final and it was interesting to see Sato wearing a china team jacket when he was with Rong at the top of the slope. When it came to the Japanese girl, he didn't change to a Japanese team jacket but just wore another regular jacket on top of the team china one.
China's ski association should have just given the guy a japanese jacket as well (although it would require permission from Japan/sponsorship approval). He has already contributed more to China than many chinese.
