Also add alpine skiing , speed skating along with ice hockey . The European domination is too strong. I don't remember where I read the article but it said that snowboarding is more popular than skiing among the Chinese public. Don't consider Gu as what is the actual preference of the public.
Speed skating has a very strong Asian showing.

Agreed. Alpine skiing is very European dominated. But I think there are good opportunities for China athletes.

The only problem is the FIS Ski World Cup pretty much takes place only in Europe. That's why even North American athletes are left out and therefore don't do well in alpine skiing.

Lol considering Korea won gold in luge in 2018 and China won a bronze this year, sledding can also be won by Asian nations. We have the advantage of wind tunnels to design sleds. Germany's 8 gold medals were all in sledding I think what the fuck. This shows how valuable sledding can be to adding to your gold haul.

Japan won gold in ski jumping so even ski jumping can be won by China in the future.

Japan and China r very good at snowboarding. There was a random Korean dude who was ranked no 1 but he got ousted by the world no 2 in quarterfinals in slalom snowboard sad case. By just 0.01 seconds. Sad. He was supposed to be a lock for at least silver medal.

The only winter sport Asian nations won't do well in in the foreseeable future is ice hockey.

By Asian nations I don't include India. I think Pakistan and Bangladesh are more likely to win a medal in Winter Olympics than India.

Heck I think Maldives will win a medal before India does.

The West has been doing that for decades.

When did India hosted the commonwealth games? And what were the embarrassing news that happened during that event if you don't me asking.
2010 in Delhi. Others probably mentioned some of them and rest are probably online but off the top of my head, the thing that still remained in my mind after so long was the lead up to it. Not just the usual delays and unpreparedness of the building venues that you see at some Olympics preparations. India took it to another level despite the commonwealth games being much smaller than the OG.

Just something like weeks before the open ceremony, there were news of construction still being done and talk of postponing the games. The Western media didn't go so hard on India cuz they always get a pass. If it was china.....

And if you thought the Tokyo cardboard beds were funny, in Delhi they took it to even shittier level. I mean literal shit. the toilet in the athlete room was found to have real poop on the floor due to plumbing issues quite close to the start of the games. They had actual photos of this. And the rooms were still not ready with photos of power tools and paint stuff still in those rooms.

I think there are other stuff but I dun want to rag on them too much, they are still a developing country and yes Indian trolls love to bash china. To be fair in the end they did a rushed finishing job and managed to start the games on time..

Rather depressingly, the regular season of KHL featuring Beijing Kunlun Red Star has been cancelled due to COVID. No more matches after Winter Olympics

Check out this fake snow ski resort in Chengdu. Eileen Gu has trained and practiced here before the Beijing Olympics. When she trained overseas, she came across the same mushroom fake snow made in Chengdu. After she heard they have such a fake snow ski resort in Chengdu, she went there for training.
Interesting, I learned from weibo su yiming will be going to Chengdu for his studies. Maybe part of the reason is to take advantage of this training center?

Anyone caught this video from Su Yiming's Japanese coach? Apparently he has 3 students? Su, a Chinese girl called Rong Ge and a Japanese girl Reira Ibawuchi. All 3 made it to the Olympics finals.

In the girls big air final, Reira came in 4th and Rong in 5th. Rong is only 19 she could be a big medal hope in the next Olympics. Not sure why there isn't more publicity on her? I seen comments saying they dun know about her much and haven't even seen her face on TV at all. All I can gather is she seem to be born in china but grew up in Canada? In the video Sato was seen asking her to introduce herself in French. And her English name is Sophie. Her voice and face is kinda obscured though with all the winter covering. Quite a mystery girl.

Anyway the I watched the rerun of the final and it was interesting to see Sato wearing a china team jacket when he was with Rong at the top of the slope. When it came to the Japanese girl, he didn't change to a Japanese team jacket but just wore another regular jacket on top of the team china one.

I've visited ski resorts in Heilongjiang China and Korea, lots of kids in both places snowboarding, my first time snowboarding was coached by a 20 yr old Chinese kid, native of Heilongjiang, talented fella...

The only chance India can win Olympic metals is if they host the summer or winter games in the far off future, and get to introduce a new sport that they're truly good at - cow shit throwing or gang raping.
