I think Nathan Chen is good representation for Chinese people as it shows we can compete and win in the sport.
However, from a geopolitical perspective it doesn't benefit China as the gold medal went to the US.

Personally, he put up a superb performance. But I gotta admit, I do wish he was playing for team China like Eileen.
It is what it is..

When the "free media" tells you that the venue is next to a nuclear site and the man-mad snow is terrible and dangerous (borderline homicidal to athletes!)

That is why placing the a ski jump next to the old steel plant was a mistake. All snow related events should be located on the mountains. There are separate Olympics village up there on the mountains. It is an image that would lend itself to intentional bashing. Like they would use that image to reinforce their pre-conceived notion that China is polluting.

As the athletes jumped up in mid air and was showed in slow motion, those chimneys provided an ugly back drop. You would want to see beautiful skies and mountains as the back drop.

Why are you always so negative? For me, I'm always the glass is half full sorta guy. That old steel mill can be taken down or spruced up over time. Meanwhile the kids as part of the 21million folks who live in Beijing have a easy access to a ski jump etc. For some it would be a short bus ride or walking distance.

Many of those ski jumps for those particular event in the states are not anywhere near the mountains and in the city. Also, that area is actually pretty nice if you seen any of the tour videos. It is winter, so some visuals will look "brown". It only looks "bad" because people are cynical or racist/nationalist.
