I'm now reading that both were MiG-21s. One pilot captured, the other supposedly killed.
IAF is now claiming that they've downed a PAF F-16, but as usual their credibility is under question. All in all, this does give the JF-17 program a reputation boost but downing a 3rd-generation jet is more or less expected should the two encounter. I wonder if the same JF-17s also undertook the purported cross-border bombing raid carried out by Pakistan earlier this morning (or was it yesterday?).
Within the past 48 hours, we've had IAF strikes on Pakistani territory, retaliatory PAF strikes on Indian territory, two IAF jets downed, one PAF F-16 supposedly shot down, one IAF Mi-17 crashed, and supposed exchange of fire between the two countries' ground forces on the international border. Not a good sign for either country.
