To answer questions posted at the PDF, sorry no AESA here, unless they decide to change the Type 382 Top Plate radar to the SR2410C search radar you see on the Bangladesh corvettes and will be implemented in the export 054A/P. The Western analog to the SR2410C would be the SMART-2 Mk. 2, used on the Charles de Gaulle carrier and the Algerian C28 corvettes, or the Type 997 Artisan radar used as the upgrades on the Type 23 frigates. However such a change, while technically possible, does not seem likely, given the PLAN's conservatism and fondness of proven things. Its very likely they will stick to the tried and true Type 382 air search radar, paired with the ubiquitous Type 364 surface search radar on the back, which queues the CIWS and HQ-10 launchers. There is likely a solo or duo Type 347G, which is the same radar used on the Type 730/1130 CIWS, but the purpose of the solo radar is for landing and takeoff radars, and these radars are present and used on the Liaoning and 002 for the same way. I would expect the top decks to be filled with SATCOMs, datalinks and CEC. Oh wait, the drawings does feature a solo Type 347G on top of the bridge but there should be another one for the rear.
Yes Izumo has AESA and these doesn't. Maybe 075A will have AESA, which will parallel the 054B/057 equipment. But Liaoning, 002, and 003 have AESA. --- but AESA doesn't make these carriers better than Nimitz class. Radars aren't as important for carriers as the number of planes they can handle,and if it was the case, the Liaoning and 002 will be among the top until the Ford class comes into service. Liaoning and 002 features modified Type 346 and 346A, plus Type 382 and
two Type 364 (shows how important this radar is for the PLAN), plus Type 347G for landing radars. Plenty of redundancy.
Nimitz, San Antonio and Wasp class feature a large planar radar called SPS-48. SPS-48 works on the same principle as the Type 382, which is a FRESCAN or Frequency Scanning type electronic scanning radar. FRESCAN radar also commonly used as PLA SAM search radars. Both SPS-48 and Type 382, much like the MR-710 Fregat or Top Plate, work on the S-band, although it appears Type 382 is dual band that includes the shorter C-band. SPS-48 seems to have a larger array, and has higher peak power, so it has a greater range and air volume, 460km vs. 300km, but it also rotates slowly, with a single face, up to 15 r/m with single face vs. 30 r/m x 2 face on the Type 382. So the Type 382 will rotate faster, and with dual faces, will feature a much higher track update by 4x at the expense of shorter range. Wasp and Nimitz class uses SPQ-9B, which is a planar or phase array for queuing the defenses, and for this purpose the PLAN uses the Type 364. Izumo uses AESA, but the AESA is a C-band, and lacking an S-band, so the range and search volume won't be as high as an S-band, however it also works directly to queue the defenses. So the Izumo's radar does both search and defense functions while the other ships prefer a dual layer arrangement. All these methods have their pluses and minuses, and one cannot say they are better or worst, so long they satisfy their mission requirements.
I should add that these drawings have bars that are on top of the bridge, which I am not sure what their purpose are exactly.
