^ Oh yeah, it's the light tank variant if we're more specific :)
I meant ZBD04 as in the family of vehicles based on the platform.

If Z-15 can be stretched and militarized to near seahawk that would obviously be great, as the limitations of Z-9 were generally endurance/load capacity/size related.
I imagine the development would be similar to the military AW149 vs civilian AW139 relationship. But considering EC175 is a civilian joint venture I'm not sure how the europeans would feel if China went it alone to develop a military Z-15... And AW149 flew eight years after AW139 did, so unless there's an active program to militarize and indigenize EC175/Z-15 I don't think we will see any small numbers of a military variant in service before 2020, if not even later factoring in delays, inevitable engine issues and what not x_X

I wonder if WZ-10's engine could be used to power a military Z-15

In post #558 in regards to the first photo... I must say that is the cleanest well deck I've ever seen in the history of the Worlds navies amphibious operations. In other words the photo is statged.

I'd like a close up view of these ships. I'd to see the build quality of these vessels. What do the welds look like? Is the basic firing equipment and damage control installed properly and serviceable? Are the axillary systems installed and ready at a moments notice?

How's that well deck? Is it ready for frequent use? What sort of training is in store for the crew to ensure the safe, proficient & professional operation of these ships?

The ships look pristine and perfect..but how's the life blood of the ship..the sailors? Are they trained and ready to set sail?

Anyone know?

998 Kunlun Shan was deployed to the Gulf of Aden last year as the flagship of the 6th escort task force.

There are plenty of pic & videos out there if you search 昆仑山 and 第六批护航编队.

I understand the rest but not this one, I don't get it, what so much differs the #558 first pic and second pic? Second pic is non-Chinese, and they stack 4 columns ready to roll out, so I take it's not staged; The First pic is PLA, and they stack 2 columns and its in transit (the 071 is in transit), and looks nice & clean, so it is staged?

They are not veteran enough, yes; but to line up all those AFVs just for some big-shot-photographer to take a staged shot? I don't think so.

PLA cleaning things up, it's not staged, it's their doctrine.

The photo wasn't staged as you can see it's taken with a crappy cell phone camera but the occasion was, I believe it was a few years back during a holiday at a SSF base, there was another shot from outside the ship showing the four Type 724 hovercraft in the well deck. Regarding the build quality and various equipment there are quite a few albums of close up photos of 054As during port visits, they were designed by the same company and built at the same yard, so I think they could be similar. On its own I think there are plenty close up pictures and videos of Kunlunshan as well, it was deployed to Gulf and Aden and many reporters were on board, including guys from Phoenix TV. In general the ship is still brand new and PLAN is known for maintaining their equipment well, so I'm not surprised that the ship look pristine. On the other hand, without proper LCAC and helicopter, the ship is still not operating at its full potential and is serving as the training ground for the upcoming PLAN LPD fleet.

Nope it's staged. An operational well deck cannot normally remain that clean and dry. Those vehicles are not leaving any tread marks. Impossible..unless the PLAN drives them in close to the bulkhead. I think the PLAN stages the vehicles..makes sure that deck is as pristine as possible and snaps some photos. If that's what they want to do fine.

But those are pictures taken during deployment. I am sure the USN is not above breaking out the mops and polish for an inspection or open day.

Interesting that the USN is using wood flooring whereas the 071 seem to use rubber/resin.

The Germantown is an older vessel, launched in 1984, meaning she is about to be 28 years old. When you look at the newer vessels, the Wasp, San Antonio, and other classes, you will see that they are not wooden decks.

The Germantown is a real ship forward deployed in Sasebo Japan. She is constanly performing real training operations.

I am sure the USN is not above breaking out the mops and polish for an inspection or open day.

100% correct!
