So did the 071 deploy with 2 Z8s and a Z9, or is the Z9 from a different ship in the flotilla?

Not really sure. They could theoretically have carried 4 Z-8s on 071 and w Z-9 on the destroyer burt my guess is they probably carried 2 Z-8s and 1 Z-9 on 071 plus 1 Z-9 on the destroyer.

as usual, let's wait to see what this looks like in a few more months. Be patient, you will be rewarded.

Let's just say, this new ship should be different. If you get sometime to test the first prototype design, wouldn't you want to make some changes for the second unit? The only question is how much difference.

夏日，亚丁湾某海域，我海军“昆仑山”舰坞舱尾门缓缓打开，新型气垫艇在引擎的轰鸣声中滑出坞舱，海面立即腾起了巨大的水雾。调整方向后，气垫艇开足马力向大海深处疾驰而去，远远看去像飞腾在海面上的一团云雾。

这是海军新型气垫艇在深海的第一次亮相，而这次绚丽登场的背后则是几十年的艰辛探索。

早在上世纪50年代末期，我国就开始了气垫技术的应用研究以及气垫艇的开发。科研人员经过艰苦探索，于上世纪90年代中期，成功设计制造出小型气垫艇并装备部队。尽管该型艇吨位较小、运载能力有限，但它的列装和使用实践却为新型气垫艇的顺利研发作出了重要的贡献。

50年磨一剑。2009年12月，中国海军第一艘新型气垫艇在万众瞩目中下水。近些年来，某登陆舰支队总工程师许卫雄一直关注着该艇的设计建造，他向记者介绍说，这艘气垫艇凝结了国内大量先进的数字化、自动化技术，艇上90%的设备来自于航空领域，大功率燃气轮机、垫升风机提供了充足的动力，使其可以像脱缰野马般驰骋大洋，航速、载重等参数均达到设计目标，与世界同类艇比较，其性能亦可跻身前列。

新型气垫艇从第一次试航到随“昆仑山”舰驶向亚丁湾，训练时间仅有短短几个月。首次亮相“深蓝”当天，在气垫艇准备返回母舰时，记者多少有些担心，因为深海的风向和涌浪时常变幻莫测，更关键的是气垫艇的艇身与“昆仑山”舰坞舱内壁之间仅有不大的空隙！

然而，艇员们过硬的技术却让记者的担心有些多余。只见气垫艇在母舰的引导下逐渐靠近坞舱尾门。50米、30米、10米……在抵达舱口时，气垫艇与“昆仑山”舰在相对静止的那一刻，瞬间加大马力，精准地钻进了坞舱。

训练结束后，气垫艇分队队长刘伟非常高兴。“我们每一名艇员都进行过上百次的模拟和实际操练，心理素质和操作技术都非常过硬。”刘伟对记者说：“即便如此，我们依然把每一次进出母舰都作为一次挑战。因为即使成功了一千次，我们也坚决不接受一次失误。”

新型气垫艇集众多新技术于一体。作为我军第一艘新型气垫艇，适航性、可靠性等指标都需要时间检验。但可以肯定的是，随着不断改进和完善，新型气垫艇定会大有作为。

气垫艇常识

气垫艇按主要装载对象分为人员气垫艇、车辆气垫艇和坦克气垫艇等。按排水量和装载能力可分为小型、中型和大型气垫艇。

小型气垫艇：满载排水量10～20吨，续航力约100海里，能装载登陆人员30余名或物资3吨左右。中型气垫艇：满载排水量50～100 吨，续航力100～200海里，能装载坦克1辆或登陆人员200名或物资数十吨。大型气垫艇：满载排水量200～500吨，续航力约1000海里，能装载坦克3～5辆或登陆兵数百名，或者物资100～300吨。

气垫艇具有速度快、掠水而行，而且不会触发水雷可直接冲上岸滩等特点。因此，具备较高的战术价值。在气垫艇研制方面，俄罗斯走在世界前面，其拥有的“欧洲野牛”是世界上最大的气垫登陆艇，主要用于运送战斗装备和先遣登陆队员，同时还可运送水雷，布设主动雷障。

Again, is it really that hard for you to upload the photo somehow instead of going to a link?

From looking at the helipad, it does not seem to have changed much. Again, waiting for more photos to come out later this month.

Looks like it might have a longer heli deck area or just that they havn't finish building the superstructure.
