High-resolution images of the laser/direct energy weapon installed on a Type 071. Most likely it's being used as a test platform.

Here's that same ship from the air, which gives a much better look at the modified platform on which the direct energy weapon is mounted.

I’d guess it’s that bigger landing craft you’re talking about—it looks like it could handle heavier loads and might be their best option right now. If not, maybe they’re working on something new we haven’t seen yet, especially since the Type 724 and 722 are out of the picture. A vehicle lander would make sense too, especially for versatility. I remember seeing a blurry photo of something similar a while back, but no real details came with it. Hard to say for sure without more solid info.
