re: PLAN Type 071 LPD & its Landing Craft

By my estimates the forward ramp should be about 3.7m wide. Enough for a MBT.

Actually I revise my estimate to 2 IFV's or 4 jeeps. As for an MBT, one of the news pieces said a payload capacity of 42 tons, not enough for even the lighter Type 96. If this LCAC has a higher overload capacity, then maybe a Type 96.

which news piece are you talking about? I haven't read anything of the actual payload of Type 726.

That doesn't state the actual payload, just says it can carry a tank of several tens in ton. And it's from a military magazine, so any figures need to be double confirmed.

Nah, there was a report, either news or written article. I can't remember offhand, but I think it's somewhere on this site, actually.

well, the thing is that accurate figures for something like this is very hard to obtain. I normally need to double confirm something. But again, it's one of those things where we gotta be patient and just wait for pictures.

Finally, more pictures from the HD shipyard. We see the hull of the next amphibious ship taking shape. From the look of it, it seems to be another Type 071 LPD, but I guess we will have to wait a lot longer to see what this will turn out to be.

After that, we see LCAC coming into the well deck of 998. There is also a picture of 911 lying around.

Using that thing on patrols? Though from a trial run standpoint that makes sense...still, compare to the US version it only seems to have like 60% of the latter's carrying capacity, in terms of size of the cargo bay that is.
