Congratulation to your son-in-law Jeff. My guess is he's going into the Naval Officer Candidate School? Guys that are prior services and going into the officers ranks are always much more professional than say those that came straight from the academies and ROTC, IMO.
And my son-in-law still serves. He's a CPO and was just accepted into an officer training program that will send him to school, make him an officer (LT JG at the end of that time) and have another 10 year commitment. He will retire with 23 years in 2025, maybe at a full Commander..
He made CPO in a little over 7 years...a real up and comer!
I can tell you that popeye's stories and experience still have great relevence, particularly on aircraft carriers.
Today's senior non-commissioned officers and officers alike would listen to him and his advise in a heart beat.
If forum members cannot see that...alls the pity for them. Most however recognize it very quickly, particularly those with any sea legs about them at all.
