In addition, it has four MI-17 numbered 30671-30674.

Come to think of it, LDPs aren't really a bad idea for Pakistan Navy. It would certainly boost Pakistan Navy's capability, in so far as Amphibious Assault is concerned. Also, it should be noted that Pakistan Navy does have the Griffin Hover Craft in its inventory. Any craft in a larger class would also mean the expansion of Pakistan Navy.

I personally believe that it is important for Pakistan Navy to increase its fleet and capabilities, vis-a-vis the current geo-political climate in the Persian Gulf and its direct implications on the Arabian Sea, in light of the impending US/Israeli conflict with Iran.

China is always relevant to this issue/topic, considering Pakistan is China's close ally. Also, there is every possibility, that China and Pakistan may well reach an agreement on Gwadar Naval Base, whereby PLAN could effectively deploy its fleet in the Arabian Sea. As such, it would be beneficial to both China and Pakistan, that Pakistan Navy expand and boost its capabilities.

However, having said all this, for Pakistan ...... it is essential that it focus its attention toward internal political and social stability. For if that is something lacking in the country, then all efforts toward strengthing its military, would be in vain.

For now PLA is not allowed to have base in a foreign country.

China is already effectively deploying task forces to the Arabian Sea. They have the AOR vessels and enough new frigates and destroyers to deploy a much larger and stronger force anytime they choose to do so, along with a couple of SSNs in support if they so desired.

2-4 Type 054As, two of the Sovs, at least one of the 52Cs and one of the 51Cs, along with a 52B and two Type 93 SSNs and a couple of AOR vessels, and a Type 071 or two if the mission needed amphibious/air assault capabilities, would be a strong multi mission capable task force.

Any bigger the expedition it'd strain its home water commitment, remember China's maritime front is under siege by somewhat hostile nations, almost all have territorial disputes with China; plus there are now at least territorial areas that can go from "warm" to "hot" at any time.

no, it would be just fine ... there are still very formidable forces remain in Chinese surrounding water. No country would be stupid enough to mess up with China (apart from US, perhaps :) )

The thing is, once they can ensure US involvement, they'd have the nerve to do just that, counting on China to do its "lame duck" routine...case in point - Vietnam, Philippines, Japan...
