how do we know the hole on the stern is not for TAS? What proof do we have that says otherwise? Holes of such type and size can be seen on US ships for, as far as i know, two purposes. For torpedo decoys such as nixie system, and for TAS. What third option is there and why is it more likely the third option is right?

Also, if 056 does not have TAS, just what is 056 going to be used for? what purpuse can it have then, save for coast guard duty?

First question is more important though, please reply if possible.

No, it's the 8 round version for cheap ships, if they want to reload capability they might as well select the 11, 18, or 24 round verson of HHQ10.

I think they shall have deploy 2 FL-3000. One on the left, another on the right. 056 maybe cheap ships but 8 rounds sound too little...

yeap, but remember it can also carry unlimited number of Man-Portable SAM (perhaps QW-3/4), which are as good

First time I've noticed there is a side portal with closure. Does the 056 have one on both sides? Is it mainly for launching/recovering RHIBs or torpedo tubes? Seems to be a smaller portal to the left and a little higher up as well.

Where will the TAS be stored if she will be fitted with one?

Anyone have any idea what naming scheme will be used for the 056s?

My understanding was that this particular position was mainly for torpedo tubes.

just goes to show how busy Naval Shipyards have got, they have

Type 056 Corvettes
Type 054A Frigates
Type 052C Destroyers
Type 071 LPD
Type 903A Replenishment tankers
and ex-Varyag Carrier sea trials

all simultanously, this is the most ambitious naval construction programme outside US, or maybe even the world

Royal Navy launched 6 x Type 45 Destroyers from February 2006-October 2011, span of 5 1/2 years, China will have launched 6 x Type 052C Destroyers between Nov 2010- 2013 or 2014 by the latest, thats just 3 maybe 4 years

and the Type 45 programme is a tremendious achivement for British shipbuilding and the biggest of its kind outside the US, yet lags quite far behind when compared to Chinese shipbuildings and that is just one programme out of half dozen that China has running

very busy and exicting times for Chinese Navy
