I think she is going to carry the same AShM as the type 054A.
most likely will, but I think for a ship like this, there is nothing wrong with having shorter ranged AShM

Braunschweig has no sonar array what's so ever. 056 has a bow as well as TAS... there is no point raising the aft deck if they will not put some equipment like a tas in there.
that TAS along is worth a lot more capability then the extra 21 rounds of ram of Braunschweig, also prob has a tube for lightweight torpedos and prob some rocket depth charger launcher
that hole at stern is not for TAS. I don't see any rocket depth charger launcher.

Unfortunately the HHQ10 launcher is an even smaller 8 round version, 3+2+3 arrangement. Also I thought the two openings are UAV hangars too until I see the picture below which shows torpedo launchers inside the opening (with orange covers on), there won't be room for UAVs.

really? interesting. I guess we will have to wait until the cover off to see then. I wonder if that hangar looking something is connecting in the middle. If not, it gives me possibility of a reloader for HHQ-10. I guess that one side looks like torpedo launchers opening, but I still think there is enough space in there to fit S-100 UAV.

After all, it seems like PLAN are really making use of S-100.

I agree that the S100 is a neat little machine and can be extremely useful for a vessel such as 056, but as its current design stands it'll be difficult to house it internally, alternatively they can get a small container to store the craft, there is plenty of helipad space. Regarding the hangar looking space once the torpedo tubes swing outward to launch there won't be space between it and the wall.

Previously I've felt that the Type 056 may be underarmed without a CIWS but I see now that it looks to have one of the new EO guided 30mm cannon stations on each side so that should be sufficient.

I think it will have a TAS otherwise it would not be fulfilling the PLAN's OPV need for greater underwater situational awareness.

As for UAVs or a chopper, even if there is no hangar space the PLAN can always go old school with tie downs and a canopy right? Just kidding, clearly small UAVs are likely and a chopper would only be visiting.

If the 056 is fully equipped like this then I think in terms of designing a tight small package it is a worthy younger sibling to the Type 053H3.

I think Type 056 will have many roles, since it will be made in large numbers they will be outfitted as per requirments of various fleets with varrying configurations

How would you compare this baby with Russian Project 20385 (Steregushchy-class) ? are they in the same class, it seems to me the Project 20385 is significantly bigger , no ?

I believe that mount is either an 11 or 18 round HHQ-10 launcher. I am not sure though what varieites of the launcher are available. With the US RAM US, there are two, a 21 round RAM and an 11 round Sea-RAM.

And one of those for CIWS against aircraft and missiles will be sufficient for the 056 I believe. Not sure if there are any reloads stored or available or not.

it would be the iceing on the cake if the radar on the mast was similar to what is on the Type 054A, the black shiney one rather than that analogue looking one
