well that wasnt long was it, seems like China is just so used to getting new ships they started live trials already

I think it really depends on what ships you're talking about. The 056, while modern, is not revolutionary for the PLAN and shouldn't be too hard to integrate. But then you look at say the 052C and you'll see it took them around 7 years to get used to the quantum leap in technology. I expect a similar process for the Liaoning, which is also something akin to a quantum leap for the PLAN.

What is it with these Type 056's? We see a lot of them being laid down, launched, fitted out and go on sea trial but so far only one stinking ship has been commissioned. So what's the deal? And is 585 about to be commissioned?

First units of any vessel take longer to commission, they find all the issues and problems and pass that on to the next ship to be commissioned and the whole process speeds up as more and more ships are ready for commissioning

I think it's pretty fast, only been 2 months since he first was commissioned, it's done some live firing and they are probably still ironing out all the issues, all this data and information is passed on and then things become naturally faster

Main thing is the pipeline is looking full with lots of vessels being launched back to back from 4 shipyards so no concern there

A few months back I said that the best chance to observe 056 up close will be during the annual open house, but probably due to ongoing political unrest this year's Labour Day open house event have been called off - if there's open house event, distribution of tickets would've been done as late as last Sunday but not a peep even today...

It's probably for the best, because the naval base is just a block away from container terminal that are on strike, and these days even simple military exercises would be marred on the media as muscle flexing.

Damn those unionist...HK needs someone like the late "Iron Lady", when all we got are clowns and spineless...
