certainly we are seeing vast naval build-up in China

if 4 shipyards are building these corvettes then the number built might be pretty high, >50 units or they want them all very quickly like inside 3 years

by the time this decade ends PLAN warship inventory might be 60+% of USN, no doubt the bulk of the USN inventory is made up of formiddable DDGs like the Arleigh Burke but still i can envisage PLAN having close to 20+ DDGs, 30+ FFGs and 30+ corvettes in addition to a few Cruisers

Naval Architecture reported last month that the recent downturn has killed alot of Chinese shipyards, but the Chinese shipyards have shifted focus to naval ships, and in addition now for the first time thinking of building large cruise ships for the domestic and international markets

With the commissioning of 582 the floodgates have been opened. I expect 9 to 10 of these Type 056's to be commissioned and in addition to that 3 Type 054A's and at least 1 Type 052C just this year. We will see a new combat ship enter service with the PLAN every 3 or 4 weeks! Not to speak of the auxiliary ships that are being build and commissioned at the same time. It seems that PLAN modernization is really picking up pace.

Wouldn't 596 be logically the next to be commissioned since she is the first to be launched from HP? Not unless she needed extensive rework because of the mods being made along the way with the other launches.

Sounds great, that means the crew size should be ~55-65, every 053 frigate crew can roughly be split to man three 056s.

I have to say, that only by seeing the 056 together with 054a 575, do I realise just how sleek and low these little ships are. Looking at the low, flat and uncluttered top, I suspect that these are really quite stealthy craft and prove quite difficult to detect. If they get most of there situational awareness from data link, I think they could be a very slippery customers indeed!

It does say in the paragraph that the ships are low observable, have strong electromagnetic compatibility and adopts widespread use of new technologies.
