Not rumor, pics for HP #3 was posted in May at CDF. #4 hull first appeared in June. It's said that HP and HD each has an order of 10 ships.

It's quite amazing really. Only a few months ago people were thinking only 4 056s in total may be produced for the HK garrison now that projection has quintupled.

-well that escalated quickly-

The 056 looks like the aggressor here, with a sudden surprise attack on the enemy ship. At that range it should first be targeting the main gun on that ship, though. :p

Yeah, or take out its bridge / CIC for similar result. Though it's equally awkward to do it in the knife-throwing range so to speak, when you can achieve pwnage against that what-looks-like somebody's coastguard cutter with AShM.

BTW, the "victim" is the Philippine's boat, right?

Does the flag pole stay up during combat? I have a hard time picturing if the main gun ever needed to be fired straight forward at low angle, would it not take out the flag pole? :p

Yeah, this pic was circulated in some pro-PH hawkish threads and it stirred up responses with their own PS'ed pics of BRP GdP launching AShMs sinking the ex-Varyag.

Those Filipinos must've forgotten that the Hamilton Class cutters don't have AShM capability...worse, their boats come without the "R2D2", ie. next to nil in terms of anti-missile defense.

The bridge and the CIC may or may not be co-located. If not, they may get a chance to bear that main gun onto the 056 and start returning fire.

The pattern of the holes on that unknown cutter actually looks like the old PLAN ship pattern TBH, though the mast and the gun obviously are not.

Maybe my the time HP3 is ready to launch you will find HP4 hiding behind, almost ready :p

Maybe they can launch 10 by the end of this year no problem.
