for some countries it seems extraordinary. for China it's no big deal, it's just a walk in the park.

Which is exactly the point that I was trying to make............ But I don' think that we would be seeing such a rapid build up to continue forever, once China starts to shift its focus towards amphibious assault ships and its first supercarrier, we would most likely be seeing a decline in rate of commission of other vessels. And sooner or later, they will hit their targeted number of surface combatants.

If they launch 2 from DL before 28th of June that’s 4 launched in 12 months!!! Wow

Not if you consider the man power, funding and construction equipment that are involved in such an undertaking. Not many nations can afford to construct multiple cruiser-class ships at once during peace time. And this is on top of the already dizzy construction rate of existing destroyers, frigates and corvettes, etc,etc.

Yes quite ridiculous... at that rate they would have about 32 large cruiser sized ships by 2025. That’s more than most countries have FACs.

Sigh, such matters goes well beyond the simple calculation of the size of the economy of the country. Nor does land mass matters much in this calculation either, if that be the case then it would have been impossible for nations like Japan or South Korea to field navies of their respective sizes vs their nation's land mass. And if economy and population was any indication, then India would have most assuredly have a much bigger and more domestically produced navy fleet than what it has right now, being not that far behind France or the UK.
Nor is China bigger than the US, the total land mass of the US is 9.8 million square km, vs China's 9.5 million square km.
It takes long term planning and serious investment, as well as a certain dose of luck to build first build up a domestic commercial shipbuilding industry which can be use to support the naval industry. Such things don't just fall into one's lap just because of GDP and country size and population.

But EM also affords advantages that anti ship and surface missiles do not posses, they are much cheaper per shot, and their are generally less susceptible to CIWS and anti missile missiles.

It's effeciency is limited by the total weight of projector.
With out significant tech advancement, current EM gun could only sent a projector weighed about 10KG to a distance equal to ASM. Compare with avilable shells, it's easy to determine that such a projector could only carry a pay load no more than 2kg. As guid system is necessary in order to hit the target in such a distance, useful pay load remain for warhead, or simply explosive filler, would be just sevral hundred grams. That means such a projector could only affect damages no better than a 76mm gun shell that is just better than nothing.

That does not make much sense, are the flags removed because there is fear of sun bleach ?
