If you mean by contributing you mean plucking a bunch of posts from the Chinese forums without clear confirmation and posting here as if you have some kind of special inside knowledge, and then adding your little pathetic 2 cent opinion on the matter (which is more towards jingoism and whatnots). Then by golly you sure are "contributing much".
And puncturing your little reality jingoist bubble in that head of yours is practically a community service.

Hint, at least read through the rest of the thread before you spout your head off, one Jobjed is bad enough. 2 is a disaster.

That's EXACTLY what I mean by contributing. Every single piece of information anyone in the West knows about the PLA comes from the dissemination of those sources. It's also something you haven't ever done, nor have shown the ability to. There was one member on this forum who had insider or quasi-insider information and that was Maya. He's left now so cross-posting from Chinese forums is the best you're going to get.

Unfortunately, it seems you've had a very spoilt upbringing so you're taking all this for granted, as though the forum and the world at large owes you something. Perhaps it's something endemic to your community?

Just wrt to build rate, China is doing about 25 million tonnes of new ships a year right now. It would be very easy for them to build 32 cruisers by around 2025 (about 3-4 a year starting from 2016). This would not be economical by any means, and in terms of military planning, training, and logistics it would probably be highly inefficient, but there’s little doubt that it’s far away from an impossible lift for China’s shipbuilding industry. I think, for what it’s worth, the actual number of cruisers by 2025 will probably be closer to 24, assuming that after the supposed first 16 orders of 055s there’s no gap in build pace if they then transition to 055As, but I don’t really expect them to stop there. If we expect China’s GDP to surpass the US’s we should not be surprised if China ends up fielding a bigger navy.

Yes quite ridiculous... at that rate they would have about 32 large cruiser sized ships by 2025. That’s more than most countries have FACs.

@VICTOR JAV

Is it ridiculous?

Building 4 Aegis destroyers/cruisers per year, with say a 35 year service life, means a total fleet of 140.

That is roughly 1.5x the US Navy equivalent, so very simplistically, China would need an economy 1.5x the size to sustain the current build rate of 4 ships per year.

---

China is already the world's largest seaborne trading nation with global shipping interests.

And the strategic environment for China is getting worse, so China would want to build up it's military capabilities.

---

And depending on how you measure the Chinese economy, currently it is 1.3x (larger) than the US in terms of physical output.

And in 10 years time, there is a good chance that China will have an economy twice the size of the USA in terms of actual output, which is much more high tech than today.

That is what matters as Chinese Aegis destroyers are paid for in RMB with minimal foreign content.

In terms of exchange rate, the Chinese economy is smaller, but the long term trend is that the Chinese currency will increase in value and converge towards the actual output figure.

However in this case, you are not contributing anything. Instead you are spewing profanities abound like a the small man that you are.:p
P.S: And if you mean by contributing you mean plucking a bunch of posts from the Chinese forums without clear confirmation and posting here as if you have some kind of special inside knowledge. Then by golly you sure are "contributing much".

Frankly I think people like Jobjed and Higgle who are able to ID rumours from credible big shrimps from the Chinese forums are the most valuable assets that SDF boast.

So yeah, he certainly has contributed a lot, in fact without that kind of contribution the ability for us to make longer term projections and forecasts will be no better than the other English language defence forums that know jack all about PLA developments.

Guys ... it is enough!

I just deleted about four pages of senseless back and forth, replies and personnel accusations mixed with another off topic issue on economic comparisons China vs. USA: STOP THIS !!!

And another request: If you have nothing to contribute or just come up with taunts and subtle provocations, then just do not write anything.
Is sometimes better.
