I don’t think 071 or 075 would be correctly employed if they need something like 055 for escort. You don’t send major amphibious assets into area where they have reasonable chance of being subjected to serious attacks while at sea.
You first use your own air power, land or carrier based, and your land attack cruise and ballistic missiles to tamp down enemy sea and air ability to disrupt the area outside the invasion beaches before you send in the amphibious fleet.
What you mean much less value than the aircraft carrier? In the most likely scenario in which Chinese aircraft carriers would go to battle, these aircraft carriers actually exist to protect the amphibious warfare ships.

I think he means the 4th won't be in service in near future (6-7 years). If PLAN choose the 004 just like 003 with some small modifications, It will be faster.

Maybe you are confusing the 4th with the nuclear powered carrier. Otherwise if the 4th is a duplicate of the 3rd, you will see it in less than 6-7 years. Much less. And maybe 4th,5th and 6th
