Remind me how late the C919 is again?

Don't bring up a single case. What I'm talking about is a trend, a probability. When you want to make predictions, you want to base it on the highest probability.

If you want, you can always find outliers. The C919, in this case.

We're not actually far apart on this part of your post, given caveats on the usual suspects like jet engines and commercial aviation.

Well, if you agree with my above point, it seems that you would agree with my point in my last post. As I said above, caveats cannot be used to make predictions.

Additionally, it seems that you also agree that China's weakness is engines. What has been in question is a radar, which has actually been a strength of theirs. And most importantly, it is not included in your own list of China's weakness. So why would you doubt their abilities?

C919 is a commercial project, where public perception matters well before the project is completed. 055 is a military project, where only the end results matter. Can't compare the two in terms of public statements.

I imagine this is blackstone who has responded with derision to Hendrik's post which was about that radar thing?

I've blocked him so I can't see what he's saying but it's probably close to that.

Just remember, in his mind, anytime a Chinese govt or military official or scientist acknowledges any limitation or setback that they have whether it's via a rumour or an official manner, he interprets it as "finally telling the truth" but anytime they state an achievement or advancement it's "let's wait and see" or "it's probably communist propaganda that you'd expect to see"... or something of that sort.

well, I don't agree with your assessment. @Blackstone has been critical but he is good, more balanced than many members in this forum

I found most of his posts to be relatively non-inflammatory and not illogical but it's like one in every five or six posts he writes something that makes me wonder what on earth he is on about. I've engaged him in discussion in enough of those times for him to express that he had no intention of adjusting his pattern so it is easier for both myself and him to pretend he isn't there.

I advise others do the same for members they consider to be net non-constructive.
