There is another shipyard called "Wenchong" located directly across the Pearly River from HP, which is located on the Changzhou Island and next to the Whompoa Military Academy. Wenchong should have the capacity to handle large military surface vessels, but so far Wenchong only constructs civilian cargo ships.

Is it me or the deck gun looks different, the forward section looks like at a lower angle.

They haven't finished with the hull yet, and the popular opinion lean towards the forward deck is the fully enclosed one.
I think he's not talking about the forward deck, but rather the forward part of where the gun is expected to be.
Indeed, if we zoom in to that area, it the shape looks very different to H/PJ-38 and of course also quite different to most conventional main guns, however what it does look similar to is the forward gun housing of say the Zumwalt class' AGS
Of course, the image is very blurry, so for all we know it could be anything... but at this point I have to say that particular object does look like a gun housing.

They could've put a cap or a lower canvas tent over it, no need of something like that.
We've already seen many similar roofed structures on various other ships under construction or under refit, so this is not exactly a stretch of the imagination.
