It appears a new section (presumably the flight deck) was added to 055's mockup. Based on measurements made on the satellite photo, the length of the mockup (without the bow) now stands at roughly 143 meters (469 feet).

Since the mockup is used to test the various onboard sensors, I assume that only the locations of the sensors (in relation to each other) need to be accurate. Therefore, I wonder how accurate the rest of the mockup is, especially in terms of dimensions.

Yeah, as said over on CDF, even 052D and 054A have longer helo decks, so chances are the 055 mock up's deck is either undersized or incomplete.

And there are a variety of other problems with the mock up's dimensions too, that I've listed before.

Speaking of the sensors, they only bothered to put on two of the Type 346X radars for some reason.
Because on this side is the water/lake = best for testing.

Would be not efficient to put them on the other side (facing the large town) because of the likely interferences.

A nice comparison by hongjian and hmmvw over on CDF, comparing 055 to 052D, scaled of course. The VLS placement and number is speculative, as is the extension of the bow and the helipad (all of which I believe are reasonable).

I think it gives a good sense of just how big 055 will end up being, at least length wise. In terms of beam, we need to keep in mind that 055 will likely be a meter or two wider than what we see on the mock up as the platform height isn't the ship's actual hull deck height.

Hehehe...I have to say...I can't wait to get my hands on a 1/350 scale Type 055 model. She will be a very nice vessel to build and add to the Liaoning group I already have .

My current group consists of the Liaoning, two Type 052Ds, two Type 054As, and a single Type 091 SSN (ChangZheng 5,405) which I will replace with a Type 093 SSN as soon as one is available in 1/350 scale.. Having a Type 055 take its place in that group will round out that CSG nicely.

My US group now consists of the USS Enterprise CVN-65 (which I will replace with a Ford class as soon as one of theose becomes available), a Ticonderoga Class CG, two Flight IIA Burke class DDGs, and two Freedom class LCSs uparmed and outfit for ASW duties. I also have one LA Flight III SSN and one Virginia Class SSN.

I'm just excited to see what 055 looks like.

It has been quite a few years since we've seen a new large surface combatant of this kind of weight class, on an original hull, reveal itself.

Zumwalt was the last one, but we knew what DDG1000 class would have looked like when the first official CGIs came out in the early-mid 2000s. But with 055, despite probably being in development for the last decade, it will still be new to us when we actually first set eyes on the real thing. That of course, is what makes following the PLA so interesting -- we never really know what we're going to get until we finally get it.
