It appears that the 054B from Hudong-Zhonghua has fired at least one of its onboard weapons systems (in this case, the HHQ-10 CIWS) during one of her sea trials. Posted by @燃烧的哈尔科夫 on Weibo.
Another view of the 054B at Hudong-Zhonghua, this time with two quad YJ-83 AShM slanted canisters installed amidship. I believe this should finally put the debate on the anti-ship armament of the 054B FFGs to rest.

Extremely disappointed. Atleast put YJ-12 there instead of subsonic YJ-83. Even pakistani 054A have better armament at this point.
Overall its been disappointing watching 054B so far. Its a mediocre upgrade over the 054A.
It has been noted before that PLAN does not function according to what you personally deem as satisfactory, tamsen_ikard.
I would be willing to state that this is a good thing.

do you know that the latest variant of YJ-83KH is quite good, much improved. I have to admit, I wish it was YJ-12

If the rumours that PLAN will seek to continue the medium destroyer lineage currently embodied by 052C/D/DL prove correct, then 054B is a mere third-tier combatant. As such, beyond meeting certain minimum standards, the most important characteristic for the type is quantity, which is in large part a function of affordability. Characteristics enabling high quantity are controlled technical risk and relatively low acquisition and operating costs and personnel requirements. If having an unremarkable powertrain, sensor and armament fits are the price to pay for an 054A-esque production run, so be it.
