If you take the fourth picture,




Look to the gantry right next to the Type 054A. Then look through between the legs of the gantry, you will actually find a new Type 054A that is being fitted, in addition to what might be a Type 053H2G.

Does anyone know if 526 'Wenzhou' has been put in for MLU? It entered service at the same time as its sister 525 Ma'anshan (2005), though 525 went in for MLU in 2019 and returned to service after a 2 year refit.

I think it did. But the pennants were painted over as they went into maintenance.

New batches finally have YJ-12s? About time since 054AP has it too.

New batches finally have YJ-12s? About time since 054AP has it too.

Would be better to have it confirmed in reality, real pictures and such, instead of media art.

There are also five batches of 054A, not three, but five.

1. Earliest ones with the flared bow, and the Pielstick engines.
2. Reverted to the 054 bezel bow and switch to indigenous engines.
3. Added VDS and Type 730 CIWS to 1130.
4. New ECM and ESM revisions.
5. New missile target emitters.

I am not completely sure yet it will stay using YJ-83s instead of YJ-12 but more or less I will assume the ship will keep using YJ-83s until photographically proven otherwise.

So far this is a definitive artwork that details the fifth batch of 054A and embodies all the changes and improvements accumulated from the previous four batches. This may not be the last changes however with more ships to go in the future.

I forgot to mention the fourth batch has a new SATCOM which is also shown here.

The extended range HQ-16s are hypothetical and not confirmed. We have yet to see the shorter finned HQ-16 on the ships that we have seen on the land TELs. I am not sure about the HQ-16 with the booster either. Is there a rumor or is this a reflection of inside info?

Interesting. Only 2 new type illuminators. I'm starting to doubt that they are illuminators at all. Rather midcourse update datalinks for missile with active radar terminal guidance.
