Yes, correct. It was at night ( when the tide was high) with heavy rain when they launched the lead ship of type 901.

Longxue site is at the west bank of Pearl River estuary, opposite side of Shenzhen International Airport, if anybody is interested to locate it on GE map.

They got their first 16,000 TEU containership contract, which will make it the biggest ship built by this shipyard so far. But that's another story for another thread.

I think that's the new shipyard in Nansha DIstrict. It builds supply vessels.

They build the supply vessels there, but its main use is commercial.

The bigger the shipyard, the more it is focused on commercial ships. It is the smaller shipyards that are being driven out of business because they cannot make the big ships that the buyers are demanding these days.

Note that these arrays, first seen in the mast head of 529 and 530 ---

Are similar to the ones here seen in Batch 4. I believe they are the same arrays, but after testing them on 529 and 530, they decided to move the location of the arrays to where you see them now. 529 and 530 still retains these arrays even after the testing. You can expect there arrays to be part of the standard fitting on Batch 5. They are not radar but I believe them to be long frequency ESM. They are not fitted on the 054A/P however. Note also the revised ESM on the mast arms, I think its Type 951 or 751 but I need to check again. Unlike the previous model, it has a crown on top, which is an additional ESM unit. This revision will be a standard fit on Batch 5 and is included on the 054A/P.

The colour of the river water, and the trees, and the registration port of the berthing barge clearly stated this is Shanghai. At this particular locations we have seen berthing of many older ships sent for retrofits and ex-PLAN ships that were sold to foreign navies. So, yes, this location is in Huangpu river, Shanghai.

This particular Type 054A is also one of the earlier 30 ships built. The locations and number of holes at the end of the ship clearly confirmed this.
