So far the 4xbatch system seems somewhat consistent. I guess we'd see either a lull in production before we get an improved class or we'd see a new 4 batch before it. But like this one, that might come after a while then a sudden boom....I guess they need some kind of operational experience first...One in testing is different than a squadron...

launching of HD 5 YANCHENG

If that were the case, it would be pretty old pictures, since HD 5 YANCHENG (546, Hull 10) was launched 27.04.11.
It must in fact be the launch of HD 6 LINYI (547, Hull 13) on 13.12.11.

those pictures were ones that hsh posted from previous launches. This kind of stuff happens once in a while.

Please know the time frame these pictures are taken, so that we don't confuse others.

That's the Oct 2010 christening ceremony of CNS Yiyang FFG548, note Yiyang mayor donated RMB 1 million to the ship's PLA support fund. That's the incentive to be a PLAN combat vessels because they are mostly named after cities or counties so they have the additional income, while others are named after mountains, lakes, and islands so they are kinda of SOL. :p Larger cities tend to donate more too, so PLAN is saving a lot of cities for the upcoming 052C batch, some of those cities will not just donate money, but also provide jobs and Hukou for sailors' families or themselves after retiring from the navy.

That's actually a cool system. That way, each city has its "own" vessel, and people can follow "their" vessel when it travels abroad, doing good. Perhaps it will give face to the city as well, if the vessel is at some point involved in some high-profile humanitarian mission or something.
