While Deagle.com is not an authoritative source either, this suggests the 9B was the model that took over the production batch since 2014, and is meant to equip the 52D, whereas the 9A or earlier versions were for the 052C.

I might think those ships still has the -9A version. There maybe adaptations between the missile variants in terms for the different radars used on these ships and the VLS systems. Try to ignore range numbers for a moment.
Deagle.com also mentions something about the HQ-16B aka HHQ-16C for naval version. Again, reader beware if these are authoritative or not.
Mentions that these missiles, with redesigned wing surfaces, are for the Type 054B.
Following this line of thought, is the HQ-9 for the Type 055 the -9C version? There will be specific adaptations for the 055's radars and combat management systems?
