There was those rumors about a week ago about some sea based laser which could have to do with the 052D... Maybe the 052D was delayed a little and the PLAN decided to stcok up on some good, mature and capable 052Cs for fleet defence before fully transitioning into D.

Hopefully the eventual 052D, or 055 or whatever the next major PLAN surface combatant is, will be what we all hoped it to be. Tbh I think it was a bit premature of some of us, including myself, to believe the PLAN could go for a massively changed destroyer when news of a follow on to the first batch of 052C was rumored.

Its widely regarded as the most reliable source on PLA, although not always right.

For one thing, it states that 052C+ Hull 1 was launched from Hudong on 28 November. Probably a slip of the pen, though, as everybody can see it is Jiangnan.

There is going to be at least 4 in total, judging by what can already be seen at work in the shipyard.

These ships strike me as closer to Der Zeven Provence then Arleigh Burke.

A couple of recent photos of the 3rd and 4th 052C from JN shipyard. The 3rd one is still fitting out the electronics and the 4th one looks like it will be launched pretty soon. You can see the progress of its bridge from the last photo.

Very interesting photos, thank you!

However, I think that the 052C in the third picture is Hull 4. It seems to be in exactly the same position as the one in the two last photos of post # 697.

The collection of hull sections on the two first photos are likely for Hull 6. I guess that Hull 5 is now being formed in Building Hall 2 (the eastern one).

Are you people saying that there are two more ships (5 and 6) of this class in construction, in addittion to 3 and 4 hulls?
