Re: DDG 052C Thread
I went back and read your previous statement again:
Actually, they were from quite reputable posters.
if you can find a ship carrying 9M96 in rif vls, then that would be some solid support for your case.
I went back and read your previous statement again:
There is nothing in this statement that tells me 9M96 missiles could NOT be launched from S-300 launchers. Whether 9M96 and S-300 missiles would or would not be mixed in a single launcher depends on operational requirements. Older Russian destroyers already keep their long-range and medium-range air defense missile in separate launchers, developed and fielded long before the S-400/9M96 series came out. Of the newer ships, the Neustrashimy class frigates use the Kinzhal (Tor) missle, the Admiral Gorshkov and the Admiral Grigorovich/Talwar class frigates use the Uragan (Buk) missile, and I don't know of any new destroyer classes being fielded by the Russian Navy any time soon. As far as I can tell, I don't see any Russian ships would have an operational requirement which would benefit from mixing the 9M96 and the S-300 as opposed to their current arrangements. So which ships are your Russian friends talking about?btw, I did read for posters following the Russian navy that naval version of 9M96 are not launched from the same launchers as S-300, but rather have their own launchers that have one missile per launch cell.
