There's a rumour going around that 052D production may reach 12 ships, 9 at JNCX, 3 at DL, with DL to be launched next year...
I'm not sure what that means for 055, but the 12 052Ds are expected to all be commissioned by 2018 (which sounds very ambitious to me). That'll mean 18 052C/D DDGs between the 6 destroyer flotillas, meaning on average 3 modern APAR equipped DDGs per flotilla??
That'll easily replace the older 051s, but the other ships like 052/051B/sovs will still have a few years in their life, so if the first 055s are also built around the same time, I don't see how PLAN will squeeze them into their orbat without, A: expanding each flotilla size, or B: creating a few new flotillas.
Conversely 055s might begin serial production after 052D production completes... who knows.
I really hate the PLAN sometimes.
EDIT: 052D hulls 2-4 have all been built and launched from the same building hall, at about one about every 6-7 months, so the idea is for the single building hall in JNCX to pump out two 052Ds per year, including 2014, 2015, 2016, and for DL to launch one hull in 2014, and two in 2015.
The other building hall at JNCX, may be used to build the first 055 once whatever is inside is completed, so we might start to see the first signs of 055 next year. With launch late 2014 or early 2015. Being a larger ship, 055 would naturally take longer to build, and we might see one or two hulls launched by the time 052D production at JNCX ceases.
From there, who knows. If flotilla ship numbers are expanded we may well see JNCX and DL pick up additional 055 contracts right after they finish with 052D.
Either way, the PLAN of 2020 will look mighty different to the PLAN of 2010, let alone 2000.

i guess we will have to wait and see what happens, seems like the usual yearly advertisment, they said same thing last year DL will show Type 052D in 2013 and JNCX will show Type 055 but nothing as of yet
I do however really forward to what 2014 will bring

Check the quality of the work on the inside of the Type 052C, it looks really modern and very professionally done
The wiring is clean and well rooted, I am impressed I just wonder the level the Type 052D is on
