It does look a bit confusing. I expected that the two 12,000-ton Coast Guard ships would be built on Building Way 1, which previously built the two rocket transporteres Yuan Wang 21 and 22. Could this be superstructures for Them?

re: PLAN Type 052 Class Destroyer

So we have 3 052Ds in the water, with at least one in the building hall as shown by the destroyer's bow in the last post, and the aft helipad/hangar module of an 052D outside looking ready for assembly, which may be for the same 052D in the building hall.

It's been a while since we've had pictures of the entire shipyard and the building halls in particular.
The question now, is how many other halls are relegated for military shipbuilding (probably two, the same two that built the previous 052C/Ds), and what are they building in there?

---

OTOH, if one of the military building halls aren't showing signs of construction... well I'll just whisper it: 055?

Can a single building way hold two 12,000 ton cutters? (Assuming they are cutters, and not just a yuan wang hull reconfigured for the coast guard)

No to the last question: the building halls at Jiangnan are 240 m deep, and a 12,000-ton ship would probably be 150-160 m in length. YW 21 and 22 measure 130 m.

I think 055 will simply replace 052D on building way 2.

Holy Smokey!!!

Great set of pictures there of the both hallways, clear as crystal in A. Man’s first picture we have if you look closely to the left hand side the front section of the characteristic shape of the Type 052D appearing from the shadows of the hallway that launched D3, then its confirmed in the later pictures

There is three ships I identify with possibility of a 4th, is the Chinese coast ships to naval warship standards? Because the single module looks like warship grade module to me, if it’s not coast guards it’s the navy’s new toy, the Type 055 CG

There is what looks like a rear section of a Type 052D for either D5 or D4, I would say D4 since they wouldn’t build rear section of D5 until they have built the bow so I would say D4 is coming along nicely

Big question is what the freggin hell is going on in the empty hallway, it’s been like that since last year ever since D2 was launched and then its sat there doing nothing, I can’t make out any re-tooling work going on in there to accommodate the construction of a new CG because there’s no scaffolding no work going on in there, maybe the work is finished? And now they are putting together the Type 055 CG in there I think that is the plausible explanation

So I would say 2 x 12,000 ton coast guard boys are being built, 1 x Type 052D DDG and 1 x Type 055 CG, those two coast guard vessels might not get put together in the DDG hallway they might go elsewhere

Anyway a great update from JNCX and good photos of the hallways that we have so wanted to see, there’s been long pause there for whatever reason but things are now looking up

Something New At Jiangnan That I Am Not Sure

Is that section an aft section/helipoad?

I'm not sure...but don't think so.

Could it be a section for amidships, where the section facing us, in the middle of the vessel, looks like maybe a structure for a group of VLS cells?

In that case, it could also be facing the opposite direction...with the VLS cells facing foreward and the other side facing aft while it is out in the yard.

Just another potential perspective of that section.

re: PLAN Type 052 Class Destroyer

most likely, we are looking at the 5th 052D for that module.

And the other two superstructures we still are the 12,000 ton cutters.

pretty sure that's 6th 052C next to the 2nd 052D.

I think this is an odd pic too because if it is a section with potentially the VLS structure, it's running the length of the ship like the VLS in front of the bridge. But it doesn't taper like the front of the bridge and the open spot in the middle on top is more like the hangar. If this is suppose to be the rear VLS, it is not running cross section like it should for the 052D. Perhaps the structure is nothing more than a construction scaffold and this is simply the aft helo pad section, although the height of the top structure where the hangar should be looks too low. I'm going to guess an incomplete aft helo pad section with the hangar far from done for D4 since I didn't see any pics of a D4 bow yet.

pretty sure that's 6th 052C next to the 2nd 052D.

It is the 6th 052C if all the pics were taken at the same time since there are two pics that already account for 150, 151, and unnumbered 5th 052C.
