Yep. D1, D2, D3 all first appeared as modules outside the building halls before moving inside for assembly.

What i'am asking is will the modules for the 4th 052D be moved into one of the sheds at JN, or will the vessel be solely constructed outside?

It will be moved into the building halls. I don't think any of the major shipyards assemble the modules without the cover of a roof now.

Incidently, are there any vessels being built in the hallways at JN, and if so what are they?

There may be, there might not be.

One train of thought is that the building hall D2 had sat in is currently being retooled to build 055, or is currently in the process of assembling the module (probably not the latter), but no one quite knows what is happening in the other building hall which D3 just vacated.

This "lull" in 052D production is indeed mystifying. Combined with the appearance of the LHA/D/carrier at JN, one wonders what exactly is going on inside.

In regards to the current build, it does make one wonder when we will see (if any) future 052D's, i can't believe it will stop at 4. Maybe just a short lull before build starts on modules for 5th and so forth...........but as you said, i agree, maybe JN is doing some re-tooling at the moment to accommodate future different builds of naval vessels!

..........and talking of future Destroyer builds...............what is Dalian upto?

Read rumours it was going to build future Destroyers, but apart from the carrier, this shipyard doesn't appear to be contributing much to the PLAN!

Well spotted, two Type 726 were spotted a year or so back both at similar stages of construction, 3321 the 2nd unit was seen during excercises in the Pacific earlier this year, this is in addition to the 1st unit 3320, so that would mean that the 3rd unit 3322 would also be commissioned and operational by now

However it seems like its still sitting there and this is a very recent photo, so question is, is this a fourth Type 726 LCAC or the third, if it's the third it means it's spent hell of a long time at JN and there is really no reason for that

With Three Type 071 LPD I would think they want to get these LCAC out as quickly as possible, so i have a feeling this could be a 4th Type 726 LCAC, and is there's a 4th there must be more coming soon

Btw is this the 5th Type 081 minesweeper?

As you say, we have only seen 3320 and 3321 in SSF (the former mostly at Zhanjiang shipyard), I think they are having problems - and second thoughts! - about this type.

The minesweeper is the 8th of the WOCHI class and the 4th of the modified version (different bow, H/P-15 30 mm gun).

Yes I was referring to Type 081A the upgraded one, so it's 4th not 5th

As for Type 726 I would be suprised they have encountered issues with this type as 3320 has been in service for a while now and has been seen pulling pretty big loads and on far away deployment including Gulf of Aden

Never the less time will tell how many they have built I guess

Those pictures are from the Liaonan Navy Yard 4810 at Lushun at 38 48 05 N 121 15 32 E – even though the name on the crane says Dalian Liaonan Shipyard.

The Type 052D destroyers from Dalian will no doubt be built the same place as the two Type 051C in 2006-2007. That is 38 55 59 N 121 38 27 E: you can see both hulls on the ways 30.08.05 and both fitting out 17.10.06.
