Probably tight quarters in there in some areas and they have servicable components or areas where they can get at directly via those hatches rather than crawling around over things inside. Makes it easier to maintain.

It's fun to note that just in this pic we see more modern equipment and firepower than was in PLAN's entire destroyer fleet until recently.
I'm glad to see 052D finally start coming into its own. Thinking back, 052D was precisely the reason I got into PLA watching in the first place (more mundane than Liaoning, I know). The circle is nearly complete!

That's 5 DDG
2 x Type 052C and 3 x Type 052D, clearly distinguishable from the circular and rectangular VLS systems
Two Type 052C namely 150 and 151 already with ESF
A very good fleet indeed, so far in the water sits then 6 x Type 052C (if we include 170 and 171) and 3 x Type 052D
That's 9 very capable Type 052C/D
That's 5 DDG

From the images above...........i also guess that is the bow section of another type 052D being built, as shown in the top right hand corner of image?
I have a question to members here, who know a thing about naval shipbuilding!
For example, in reference to the build of the Type 052D.......why is it that for some reason we see some vessels built in the sheds such as the 1st and 2nd 052D's, yet then we see others such as the 4th 052D built outside?
OR..........is it the case that the modules are all built outside, then moved into a shed at a later date to be assembled together before being launched.........and i just happened to miss the fact that the initial building of no1 and 2 052D's was done outside?
What i'am asking is will the modules for the 4th 052D be moved into one of the sheds at JN, or will the vessel be solely constructed outside?
Incidently, are there any vessels being built in the hallways at JN, and if so what are they?
