yes what a beautiful ship! very good aesthetics and proportions not to say anything of performance. i hope it stays this pretty once they have the mast all fitted out with domes and antennae..

There will only be one HQ10 launcher on 052Ds, the front CIWS station retains the Type 730. I think the PLAN prefers to retain the known reliability and flexibility of a gun based CIWS while also gaining the advantages of a missile based CIWS.

It's the lower back side of the turret which slants inward is what's giving us the horrible impression. Wonder if they did that strictly for RCS reduction purposes or if there's some sort of clearance needed at the base of the gun.

I think the smokestack will be identical to the 052C although I still hope they would do something more like the type 056's stack for better RCS and heat signature reduction.

D4>? I think that is actually module D5, because D4 is in building next to the hall from where D3 was just launched few weeks back

D4 is due to be launched before this year is out, there’s no way they can get D4 launched if it’s still in modules so that means it’s D5

This would also be in line with the launch trends of two per year, or one every six months, each hall does a launch a year roughly speaking

So I think these modules of D5 are going to be assembled in the hall from where D3 was launched and D4 is in build next door, D5 launches next year

As a matter of fact I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we started to see modules for D6 starting to come together
