Yeah I mean at the end of the day the Type 052C is a very capable DDG, this means the Type 052D with a 64 cell VLS is a well placed DDG for modern warfare and it's hard to see it not having this capability

Having 6 x Type 052C and a fleet of 8-10 Type 052D would make PLAN a powerful DDG force in the world

The larger cruiser with a say 96 cell VLS would really put PLAN on a sailing on the high seas

Someone said the third 052D has been launched, but there are no photos yet to confirm.

Good to see but as expected, that's three Type 052D in the water I expect the 4th one by years end and the current empty hall to start building D5 and then D6 by next year

I think we have already seem the modules for D5 and D6, thats two launches a year, one every six months, I count 8 Type 052D launched by 2015 that's in addition to the six Type 052C

Total DDG tally would be 14 units

Well, having checked out various other Chinese military forums, the general consensus is ......yes, the 3rd 052D has been launched....date 2nd July.
