how about they are squeezing those cells real tight?
64 cells with multi missile load capability is a very respectable load for this ship
i didn't think they managed to put 32 in the aft cells

No. The walls are at the correct distance. In fact they are further away from the missiles than the walls of the cells containing the missiles. The Chinese missiles are designed to go straight up, and the walls are not relevant.

That's just fan f*cking tastic -- we can officially call 052D the 2/3 burke!
Well finally all those debates about VLS number and AShM launchers can end.
This thing will have VLS capacity to fit 052C number of AShM and LR SAM, and still have 8 cells left over. Fantastic.

i would expect the most common load would be 48 hq9 and 32 short/medium range self defense missiles. then the leftover 8 cells would be filled depending on the campaign requirements. LACMs or AShMs (probably not rocket assisted torpedoes, there are other ships that could deal with that). Good deal of western countries, when operating with the carrier, chose not to carry ashms at all, anyway.
Personally, the most awaited piece of hardware now for me is that new missile which will fit into 3,3 meter long containers. But i have a feeling it may be years until we get a word on that.
