This must be some kind of BS story. 256MW is more power than the 4 turbines on a nuclear-powered carrier COMBINED. I can believe a number of 23.6MW, but then this number is nothing special compared to the indigenized QC280 with 28MW power output.

Well... to be fair, the passage never said that the researched turbine was to be use or can be use on ships. It just mentioned that gas turbine is the main source of power for aircraft, ships and power generator (as in power plant). They did mention about the GE 9FB gas turbine which had a gross maximum output of 256MW. And depending on what this turbine is used for, the Chinese gas turbine should have similar usage.

It is probably meant for a power plant. An equivalent product would be Siemens'

which has a power output of 274MW. QC280 is like a child's toy compare to these gas turbines.

heh. even if it is only a land powerplant, its technology could filter to the air and naval powerplants tech field. If a nation can sucessfully build a 256 MW gas turbine, it can build smaller turbines, even if they have to fit in a ship or even in a plane (harder to do).

How many nations can pull this off? does this mean that china is finally getting it right with engines? only time will tell.

yep, it does. i dont know what else this image could be of. that being said - where are the doors right under the ciws, in the middle of the superstructure?

curious question,is the turbine blade for power plant and ship,same turbine blade use for aircraft?
