I don't know if this is accurate. That latest pic actually makes the 052D look smaller compared to the 052Cs at the top.

No, more likely an opportunity shot from a windows passenger's seat on a jetliner, just like those ex-Varyag pics we used to get.

Perhaps you're too young to be informed, but China's airspace is one of the most restricted in the world, that makes private ownership of planes and helicopters largely restricted to commercial, route-flying type, not civil aviation that you can rent and fly anywhere as you want it. Such choke-hold is what stagnate China's aviation industry - while open-sky policy is on the roadmap but that'd be another decade before it becomes a reality.

Well, the airspace will open in 2013 so not another decade.

re: PLAN Type 052 Class Destroyer

I wonder what kind of burst speed and acceleration this 052D will have, because just based on the exhaust it is still using two GT's but is already (allegedly) pushing 8,000 tons. Since it's a CODOG, maximum power output is limited to what two QC280's can put out at once, so we're looking at maybe 75,000shp or thereabouts. Whereas the Flight I AB at 8,300 tons was sporting 4 COGAG GT's (LM25000) which were putting out 106,000shp. The latest Burkes use the LM25000+, with 4 of them putting out 162,000shp.

I think it is because the type 052c at top has bow facing viewer so you are tempted to think that the wider superstructure behind it is larger compared to the lower type 052D which had the wider stern facing viewer.

I don't think the D hull is any larger than the C.

Any differences in size are in all likelihood not large enough to be visibly noticeable.

I don't think the beam has been increased much if at all, any increase in displacement will come from stretching the hull, which will actually improve its hydrodynamics. So even though it's total power is much less than a Burke, as a much skinnier ship it shouldn't have any problem keeping up.

They will have lined up 10 x DDGs of the class Type 052D, now JN is going to do the number on the Type 052D, they are going to hit the launches fast and hard, I bet they will get them sailing much faster than the current 4 x Type 052C because they have streamline the production

And it could have new two QC-280++ with a significant improvement or even QD-280+

Chinese Destroyer design usually is tend towards the narrow beam and higher length to beam ratios. which if all things are equal makes them bit faster given the installed power.
the disadvantage is that they are not as top stable, or volume efficient. there fore there top mast is usually lower and space is still bit cramped.

So, it appears like two 32 cell hot launch missiles on this new baby for a total of 64 hot launch cells.

That's an improvement right there if the missiles are as capable, and particularly if it ultimately allows the PLAN to launch various types of missiles/weapons from those tubes, ie. the normal AAW (and maybe some quad pack short range missiles too), but also ASMs, SLCMs, VLASW, etc.
